About the ReC♪ST Contest
The ReC♪ST contest, now affectionately titled to be more accessible to students since 2023, examines entries based on criteria such as originality, recording quality, and musicality. Each year, an impressive array of submissions flows in, reflecting the diverse and innovative ideas generated by young creators.
Significance of Sound Day
Sound Day commemorates the historic achievement of Thomas Edison, who completed the phonograph on December 6, 1877, marking the day audio recording technology was born. The Japan Audio Association, along with other related groups like the Japan Music Studio Association and the Japan Recording Association, collaborates to organize various educational activities and award ceremonies annually on this day, including the ReC♪ST contest and the Japan Professional Music Recording Awards.
In 2023, the event is scheduled for December 5th, taking into account that the actual day falls on a Saturday.
This year's event is exclusive to registered members of the association and invited guests, making it a special gathering for the music community.
