Engage in Tokyo Marathon at 'TOKYO CHEER 2026'

The Tokyo metropolitan government is excited to announce a call for performers for the upcoming runners' support event, 'TOKYO CHEER 2026', slated to coincide with the Tokyo Marathon happening this year. This vibrant occasion allows local and international participating runners—estimated at around 39,000—to be cheered on along the marathon route and at 20 designated venues across the city, including the scenic outer gardens of the Imperial Palace. The aim? To infuse the streets of Tokyo with enthusiasm and smiles through captivating performances!

Seeking Diverse Performers

We warmly welcome various groups to join us in energizing this stellar occasion. Whether you specialize in music, dance, cheerleading, or traditional arts, your talent can contribute significantly to the marathon spirit. Performers will engage with marathon spectators, thereby enhancing the festive atmosphere as the city comes alive with the sounds of encouragement and applause.

Event Details

• - Date: Sunday, March 1, 2026
• - Organizer: Tokyo Metropolitan Government
• - Locations: Multiple venues alongside the marathon route (details available in the attached document)
• - Number of Participants: Approximately 100 groups (around 2,000 people)

Selection results will be announced in late December 2025.

• - Performance Criteria: Groups are encouraged to apply if they can deliver music, dance, cheerleading, folk performances, or any act that fittingly supports the marathon ambiance. We are particularly eager for participation from local groups along the marathon route, as well as those from the western and island regions of Tokyo.
• - Application Period: From November 14, 2025, to December 15, 2025. If submitting by post, the application must be postmarked by December 15.
