HeartSign App Enhances Patient Care through My Number Portal Integration
Curecode Inc., a healthcare technology firm based in Toyama, Japan, has announced a significant upgrade to its HeartSign application, designed explicitly for patients suffering from heart diseases and heart failure. The company has collaborated with Mie University to seamlessly incorporate a new feature that connects HeartSign with the My Number Portal API. This integration allows users to automatically import their medical and health information from the My Number Portal directly into the HeartSign app, which enhances both individual health management and medical support.
Overview of the New My Number Portal Integration Feature
HeartSign is intended to assist patients in managing their health conditions related to heart issues. The app offers functionalities for users to log daily metrics such as blood pressure, heart rate, weight, symptoms, and step counts, which can then be shared with their healthcare providers. Currently available on both iOS and Android platforms, HeartSign is undergoing clinical research at several medical institutions, including Mie University Hospital, targeting patients with a history of hospitalizations due to heart failure starting from 2023, and focusing on myocardial infarction patients from 2025 onward.
This initiative is supported by a grant from the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) for the fiscal year 2023, aimed at establishing a research development base for preventive health promotion and the utilization of health information technologies, which will continue through the fiscal year 2025. The overall goal is to mitigate heart diseases and reduce both the recurrence and readmission rates associated with heart failure through personalized health records and medication information.
Key Benefits of HeartSign's Integration with My Number Portal
1.
Visualizing Health Information for Accurate Self-Management
By managing past health check results, prescription information, and various health data within the app, users can visualize their health status whenever necessary—beyond just during healthcare visits.
2.
Reducing Input Burden through Automatic Data Retrieval
Previously, users had to manually input prescription and medication data or scan QR codes from insurance documents. With the new My Number Portal feature, this information is now automatically incorporated, greatly simplifying the recording process in the app, minimizing errors in data entry, and enhancing accuracy.
3.
Facilitating Long-term Data Storage and Access
Even after the designated time for information storage on the My Number Portal has elapsed, users can retain their health data within the HeartSign app, allowing for long-term availability and usability of their health information.
Future Goals for HeartSign in Collaboration with My Number Portal
Through the integration with My Number Portal, HeartSign aims to proactively promote the future of digital transformation in healthcare. By consolidating personal health check data, medical histories, and lifestyle information, HeartSign aspires to deliver precision medicine tailored to each individual’s health condition.
Improving Medication Adherence
By leveraging medication data, the app seeks to establish a patient-centric, ongoing medication support system. This is anticipated to significantly improve adherence rates, instill durable medication habits, and help achieve targets for blood pressure management.
Contributing to Nationwide Health Improvement
The accumulation of anonymized data is expected to contribute to the prevention of heart diseases and heart failure, offering opportunities to reduce healthcare costs and assist government bodies, municipalities, and medical institutions in the formulation of public health policies and preventive measures.
