Toyota Miles Per Hour: Get Ready to Run Indoors at Chicago Auto Show 2025
The 2025 Chicago Auto Show is just around the corner, and alongside it comes an exciting tradition—the
Toyota Miles Per Hour indoor run. Scheduled for February 9, this event is a collaboration between the Chicago Auto Show organizers and the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA). It's designed for those who want to escape the winter cold while enjoying a unique athletic challenge.
The premise of the
Miles Per Hour run is simple yet thrilling. Participants are tasked with running as far as they can within a one-hour timeframe, effectively measuring their personal endurance and speed in a setting that is rarely available during the cold winter months. As they race, they will also have the wonderful opportunity to explore the Chicago Auto Show, providing added motivation to run those extra miles.
Last year's event welcomed nearly 650 participants, and the organizers anticipate an even larger turnout this year. Chicago Auto Show General Manager,
Jennifer Morand, expressed excitement about continuing to draw runners to this one-of-a-kind experience, emphasizing that it allows locals to enjoy an indoor track amidst the harsh winter weather.
Runners will compete on a loop of approximately 2.4 miles within the halls of
McCormick Place, which serves as the venue for the auto show. As they run, participants will experience breathtaking views of the city skyline, particularly as they cross over the Grand Concourse bridge. The course is designed to include various elements: long straightaways, winding paths, and an ascent over Lake Shore Drive, providing a diverse and engaging running experience.
Awards and Recognition
Awards will be given based on the distance covered, recognizing the top three male and female runners in each age group. The overall champions will earn the coveted Miles Per Hour cup, creating an engaging competition atmosphere.
Tim Bradley, Executive Director of CARA, expressed his enthusiasm for partnering once again with Toyota and the Auto Show, noting that this event not only promotes fitness but also brings a sense of community among runners.
