The festival is not only about tasting; it also allows participants to purchase their favorite varieties to enjoy at home.

Unique Tasting Features

At the festival, visitors will use special coins called 'umesen' for tastings (with prices typically ranging from 1 to 7 coins per tasting depending on the brand). Attendees can sample an array of umeshu flavors, from junmai sake-infused versions to creative blends with citrus like kabosu or yuzu, as well as innovative options featuring mango, peach, and apple. For those with refined tastes, the festival will also feature a special section showcasing the Hall of Fame umeshu, which has won the gold award three times in past competitions. This exclusive corner is a must-visit for true umeshu enthusiasts.

Once attendees identify their preferred umeshu, they’ll have the chance to purchase these unique blends at the event's sales area. Given that many of these varieties are hard to find in regular retail spaces, they make for wonderful souvenirs too! Whether you prefer it on the rocks or mixed with soda, there’s a perfect umeshu for everyone to enjoy at home.

Limited-Edition Tastings

The festival will also feature Dassan Umeshu, crafted from premium Nanko plums and mixed with junmai daiginjo sake. This collaboration with Asahi Shuzo Co., known for its iconic Dassai brand, offers attendees a one-of-a-kind tasting experience that can only be enjoyed during the Umeshu Festival. Limited to 500 cups per day, this special tasting option allows tastes of around 20 ml for ¥700 (tax included). Additionally, there will be a lottery for purchasing limited bottles of Dassan Umeshu; a rare find priced at ¥15,400 (720ml). Culinary Pairing with Award-Winning Umeshu

Attendees will have the chance to pair gold-winning umeshu selections from the 2024 Nationwide Umeshu Competition with complementary dishes. The festival will showcase delicious combinations such as umeshu-infused beer and the sophisticated dessert pairing of vanilla ice cream with umeshu. These culinary experiences are designed to elevate the festival’s tasting adventure.

Festival-goers can also find exclusive merchandise only available during the event. The special coins for tastings will be priced at ¥1,600 for 18 coins and ¥3,000 for 36 coins. Tickets sold on-site during the festival will be priced slightly differently but will follow the same pricing structure.
