G6 Hospitality's New Safety Initiative
G6 Hospitality, the parent company of the well-known chains Motel 6 and Studio 6, is stepping up by introducing a groundbreaking initiative aimed at improving safety standards in the hospitality industry. In collaboration with the Texas Hotels and Lodging Association (THLA), G6 has rolled out a national hospitality safety and security program, which made its debut in Dallas.
This program addresses several pressing issues faced by hoteliers today, including police inquiry responses, guest privacy safeguards, and legal obligations concerning critical situations such as firearms, active shooter scenarios, and handling guest disturbances. By providing practical guidance on these matters, the initiative aims to bolster the skills of hospitality staff to better manage complex situations while ensuring guest safety and privacy.
The launch event attracted a robust attendance of over 100 hospitality professionals from across 15 different states, including Texas, Florida, and California, showcasing the keen interest in enhancing hotel safety throughout the country.
In an era where hotels are facing a myriad of criminal activities—ranging from human trafficking to identity theft—this program represents one of the first coordinated educational efforts specifically tailored to economy lodging facilities. It seeks to equip hotel franchise owners, general managers, and frontline staff with contemporary safety protocols and practices aligned with law enforcement expectations.
“We recognize that our franchise partners are the backbone of our brand,” stated Sonal Sinha, CEO of G6 Hospitality. “This national seminar program is much more than just training; it is an investment in their future and a commitment to their safety. Through these expert-led modules, attendees will learn the essentials of guest verification, incident management, and compliance standards that will directly safeguard their business and clients.”
The curriculum crafted with inputs from both THLA and industry legal experts, combines practical experiences with actionable insights. Scott Joslove, the President and CEO of THLA, emphasized that the training is designed to reflect real-world challenges in hotel operations and legal stipulations. “Our focus is on providing clarity to hotel teams about recognizing threats, responding to them, and cooperating with public safety agencies effectively,” he added.
Following the successful pilot of this program at the G6 Hospitality Headquarters, plans are underway to distribute the learning series across major cities throughout the U.S. The program will consist of live workshops as well as digital resources to ensure widespread accessibility for franchise teams, thus allowing them to effectively implement the new knowledge in their operations.
Additionally, this initiative reflects G6 Hospitality's ongoing commitment to adapting to the evolving safety and security landscape, ensuring an inviting and secure environment for all guests visiting Motel 6 or Studio 6 locations.
