Empowering Youth Voices: Jack and Jill of America Inc. Hosts Legislative Summit 2025 in Washington

Jack and Jill of America Inc. Hosts the 2025 Legislative Teen Summit

In September 2025, Jack and Jill of America, Inc. will proudly host the tenth biennial On the Hill (OTH) Legislative Teen Summit in Washington, D.C., from the 19th to the 22nd. This event aims to empower youth leaders and expand their voices in political advocacy. As a new generation steps onto the national stage, their engagement is vital in shaping a future that upholds justice and equity.

A Gathering of Youth Leaders

The theme for this year's summit is "Amplifying Our Voices." Nearly 800 teenagers from across the nation will gather to participate in legislative advocacy, civic engagement, and leadership development. Participants will immerse themselves in workshops that focus on community impact and the significance of civic involvement. Nurturing young minds, the summit fosters the next wave of leaders who will pave the way for community change.

"When our children step onto Capitol Hill, they do not come as mere visitors; they arrive as visionaries. Jack and Jill is honored to amplify their voices because the advocates of today are tomorrow's legislators, judges, and presidents," stated Darline Whitington, the National President of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Engaging with Legislative Processes

The summit promises to be a platform where young advocates can confidently explore their leadership potential. They will engage in a variety of activities, including:
  • - Civic Engagement Workshops: Participants will learn how to effectively engage with their communities and understand the legislative process.
  • - Teen Moguls JNJ Tank: A showcase for youth entrepreneurship, this event encourages creative thinking and business acumen among teenagers.
  • - Black Family Status Forum: This forum will allow youth to discuss pressing issues affecting African American families and highlight the importance of representation in policymaking.
  • - Legacy Amplified Presidential Reception: A prestigious event celebrating the contributions of past leaders while inspiring current youth leaders.

The summit will culminate with the “Jack and Jill Takes the Hill” event, where attendees will meet with their respective legislators to advocate for crucial issues that affect their communities. This engagement is not only empowering but is also essential to fostering a sense of responsibility and agency among young leaders.

Cultivating Future Leaders

As Jack and Jill of America Inc. prepares for this monumental event, the organization not only views On the Hill 2025 as a celebration but also as a powerful call to action. The summit aims at freeing young African Americans to express their truths while honoring the legacies of those who came before them, influencing the trajectory of their futures.

Through decades of dedication, Jack and Jill of America Inc. has been committed to advancing the growth and development of children—especially future African American leaders. Established in 1938, the organization has become one of the largest and most influential African American family organizations in the country, consisting of 271 chapters and representing more than 50,000 family members nationwide.
