Vizsla Silver Advances Development of Copala Test Mine in Mexico's Panuco Project

Overview of Vizsla Silver's Copala Test Mine Development

Vizsla Silver Corp. (TSX: VZLA, NYSE: VZLA) has provided an exhilarating update about the ongoing development of the Copala test mine at its 100%-owned Panuco silver-gold project, located in the rich mining region of Sinaloa, Mexico. The company is successfully progressing from exploration to development, marking a substantial step forward with the test mine program.

Importance of the Copala Test Mine

The Copala test mine program significantly de-risks the Panuco Project and serves as a vital transition in Vizsla Silver's operations. This program establishes the Copala portal, which will serve as the primary access point for future underground mining.

Simon Cmrlec, COO of Vizsla Silver, commented on the progress, stating that the team is diligently enhancing underground performance and optimally advancing the project towards its goals. As development continues, the focus lies on refining contractor capabilities and improving advance rates to facilitate a seamless transition into large-scale mining once construction is approved.

Progress on Test Mine Development

As of now, Vizsla Silver has advanced approximately 125 meters down the Copala decline. The progress has been notable, with a decline measuring 5.5 meters wide and 5.5 meters tall, and advancing at a 4-meter per day pace. The conditions are favorable, supporting an expected further increase to around 8 meters per day.

Once the team reaches the ore zone, a strategic plan is in place to extract a 10,000-tonne bulk sample without causing environmental disturbances, utilizing already disturbed areas for stockpiling.

The objectives for this bulk sampling include:
  • - Conducting paste fill and cemented rockfill (CRF) testing to assist backfill planning.
  • - Analyzing the rock's competency and structure to optimize mine design and cost models.
  • - Performing grade reconciliations to align with the block model specifications.

Onsite Developments and Workforce Growth

The test mine portal is strategically located about 300 meters away from the proposed processing facility. Simultaneously, existing infrastructure is being enhanced, including the establishment of first aid facilities and staff buildings to support operational efficiency. Importantly, a commitment to hiring from the local community boosts not only the local economy but also fosters positive relations with the surrounding population.

Additionally, recent developments indicate that underground access will allow for low-cost drilling operations from strategic underground stations. This supports the essential task of converting existing resources into higher confidence categories while simultaneously outlining potential high-priority targets for testing as the decline progresses.

Panuco Project: A Gateway to Opportunities

The Panuco silver-gold project is an exciting venture located in southern Sinaloa, not far from Mazatlán. Covering an area of 7,189.5 hectares, it harbors a history of silver and gold production, boasting an impressive vein extent of over 86 kilometers and a well-established infrastructure of underground mines, roads, and power.

Furthermore, the district reveals significant potential for intermediate to low sulfidation epithermal silver and gold deposits stemming from siliceous volcanism. On January 6, 2025, Vizsla announced an updated mineral resource estimate for Panuco, highlighting a combined measured and indicated mineral resource of 222.4 million ounces of silver equivalent, along with an inferred resource of 138.7 million ounces.

Conclusion

Vizsla Silver's ongoing commitment to developing the Copala test mine underlines their aim to establish themselves as a leader in silver production. As they push towards operational goals, not only do they prioritize responsible mining practices, but they also strive to contribute positively to local communities and economies. With the scheduled completion of the fully funded test mine program by year-end, all eyes will be on Vizsla Silver as they continue their path towards responsible mining and sustainable growth.
