Riding into the Future with S.RIDE
In a groundbreaking initiative, S.RIDE Corporation is making waves in the transportation industry by introducing autonomous vehicle experiences at
SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, which is set to take place from
April 27 to 29, 2026. Partnering with Movies and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, S.RIDE aims to showcase the capabilities of Level 2 autonomous vehicles in a safe and engaging manner.
The SusHi Tech event promises to be an exciting showcase of technology and innovation, with the public invited to experience the future of urban mobility. On
April 29 (Public Day), attendees can use the S.RIDE app to call an autonomous vehicle to specific locations around Tokyo's waterfront area. This unique experience allows guests to witness the seamless integration of technology and transport, right at their fingertips.
The Experience: How It Works
To participate in this revolutionary ride experience, users need to follow these simple steps using the S.RIDE app:
1. Tap the
'moveez' icon within the app.
2. Select
'Autonomous Vehicle' from the vehicle selection screen.
3. Specify a pickup point and request a vehicle.
4. Once the vehicle arrives, simply choose one of the designated destinations from the onboard tablet, and enjoy the autonomous journey.
This exciting experience is free of charge and will allow groups of up to
four people to ride in one of the two specially designated autonomous vehicles. The available destinations include popular locations such as the
Tokyo Big Sight,
Ariake Garden,
Kokusai-tenjijo Station,
Telecom Center Station, and
Tokyo Teleport.
Ensuring Safety
Safety is paramount, especially when it comes to new technology like autonomous driving. To ensure a secure environment, a driver will be present in the driver’s seat to monitor operations during the ride. This oversight aligns with safety protocols as the vehicle operates at Level 2, which requires human oversight.
The Collaboration
The endeavor is a result of collaborative efforts among several organizations to advance next-generation mobility solutions. S.RIDE Corporation leads the way in providing the ride-hailing app infrastructure, while Movies coordinates the overall project and manages the development and operation of the autonomous vehicles. Several taxi companies, including
Green Cab,
Kokusai Motor,
Kotobuki Taxi,
Yamato Motor and
Checker Taxi, are also collaborating to support real-time operations and remote monitoring of the vehicles.
