Deric Eubanks to Retire as CFO of Ashford Inc.
Ashford Inc., a prominent player in the hospitality investment sector, recently announced that its Chief Financial Officer, Deric Eubanks, plans to retire in June 2026 after an impressive tenure of 23 years with the company and its predecessors. Eubanks has been an essential part of Ashford, having joined the company in 2003 when Ashford Hospitality Trust was established. His leadership has been pivotal in steering the financial strategies and operations of the organization, particularly during his 12 years as CFO.
Transition Plans
Eubanks' retirement will officially take place on March 31, 2026, but he will remain onboard until June 30 to ensure a seamless transition. During this time, he will assist as a Senior Managing Director, focusing on financial and transitional matters as the company navigates this significant change. After his retirement, Eubanks will be available as an advisor to ensure continued support to the team and the company’s strategic processes.
Monty Bennett, Chairman of Ashford, expressed deep gratitude towards Eubanks, highlighting the critical role he has played in the company’s growth and stability. Bennett noted, "Deric has been with us since we launched Ashford Hospitality Trust, and his commitment to our mission has never wavered. His outgoing dedication to navigating the strategic processes for both Braemar and Ashford Trust speaks volumes about his character and commitment to our organization."
Legacy of Leadership
Reflecting on his 23-year journey, Eubanks remarked on the incredible milestones achieved by the team at Ashford. He stated, "As I consider retirement, I’m proud of what we have built together, and my focus remains on the tasks ahead. My commitment is to ensure we successfully navigate the sale process for Braemar and manage the asset dispositions at Ashford Trust until they are in capable hands."
After Eubanks steps down, the current Chief Accounting Officer, Justin Coe, will take over as the Principal Financial Officer for both Ashford Inc. and its advised REITs, namely Ashford Hospitality Trust and Braemar Hotels & Resorts. This transition is viewed positively as Coe is already familiar with the company's financial operations and strategic direction.
Looking Ahead
Eubanks' retirement marks the end of an era for Ashford Inc., but the foundations he has laid and the strategies implemented will undoubtedly guide the organization well into the future. The company stands strong with a capable leadership team poised to propel it forward. As the organization eagerly anticipates this transition, there is a collective confidence among the leadership that Eubanks' legacy of excellence will continue to inspire future successes.
The entire Ashford team is thankful for Eubanks’ nearly quarter-century of service, and his departure will be both a poignant moment and an opportunity for continued growth as they build on the solid groundwork he has provided.
