Clarios Receives Prestigious Award for Sustainability Initiatives from ATR International

Clarios Receives 'Excellence in Sustainability' Award

Clarios, recognized as a leading and technologically advanced manufacturer of low-voltage batteries, recently received the inaugural 'Excellence in Sustainability' award from ATR International. This accolade acknowledges the company's commitment to sustainable practices and its role in promoting circular economy initiatives within the automotive battery sector.

ATR International, a prominent global group that supports the automotive aftermarket, highlighted Clarios as an exemplary model of sustainability due to its comprehensive circular economy strategy. The company has established a 'best-in-class' model for sustainability, demonstrating outstanding efforts in transforming mobility solutions towards a more eco-friendly future.

During the award ceremony held at the ATR International Preferred ATR Suppliers (IPAS) Forum in Stuttgart, Germany, key representatives from Clarios, including Bernd Evers, Sales Director EMEA, and Lisa Klein, Director Brand Marketing EMEA, were present to accept the award. Theres Gosztonyi, Vice President Aftermarket EMEA of Clarios, expressed pride in the achievement, noting that it underscores the recognition of the company's sustainability efforts both within the industry and among its customer base.

Clarios's commitment to recycling is a cornerstone of its sustainable operations. The company processes over 8,000 spent batteries each hour through its extensive global network. Notably, the batteries produced by Clarios are designed for 100% material recovery, ensuring that every component can be recycled and reused responsibly, whether in the production of new batteries or other products.

Continued Commitment to Sustainability

The focus on corporate social responsibility has always been a guiding principle for Clarios. Christian Rosenkranz, Vice President of Sustainability and Corporate Affairs EMEA, noted that as regulatory demands increase for reduced emissions, the need for advanced low-voltage batteries is also rising. This reinforces the necessity of circularity in their sustainability efforts.

Globally, Clarios’s operations reflect a high rate of material recovery—76% of the lead and 54% of the plastic used in its batteries comes from recycled or regenerated sources. This not only lowers the environmental impact of battery production but also creates a sustainable loop that benefits the entire automotive industry.

As the largest producer of low-voltage batteries worldwide, Clarios aims to lead the market not only through innovative technology and reliability but also as a model of sustainable practices. With around 18,000 employees across more than 100 countries, Clarios is committed to working closely with both aftermarket partners and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to ensure that all products are recyclable, further supporting its sustainability initiatives.

Closing Thoughts

Receiving the 'Excellence in Sustainability' award signifies Clarios's dedication and impact in the field of sustainable battery solutions. The firm continues to set an industry standard in environmental practices and corporate governance, paving the way for a greener future in automotive technology. As Clarios forges ahead, its commitment to sustainability will remain integral in shaping the way the world views battery production, recycling, and use in numerous applications. The recognition by ATR International is not just an accolade but a testament to the responsible practices at the heart of Clarios's operations.
