Benesse's Commitment to Diverse Learning
Benesse Corporation, headquartered in Okayama, Japan, has announced its participation in the upcoming
'Diverse Learning Conference 2026' organized by the non-profit association
ICT CONNECT21. Scheduled for
August 30, 2026, this event aims to address the increasingly diverse needs of students, including those with unique cognitive and developmental characteristics. It will serve as a platform for collaboration among various stakeholders in education, such as schools, local governments, corporations, and research institutions.
The goal of the conference is to promote the practical application of diverse learning strategies through sharing actionable knowledge and forming new partnerships that can enhance the educational landscape. By participating, Benesse aims to contribute insights and developments in the area of diverse learning.
Understanding Diverse Learning SIG
The
Diverse Learning SIG (Special Interest Group) was established by ICT CONNECT21 in June 2026 to advocate for students' unique needs, particularly those who are not attending school or those with varying cognitive characteristics. The group, comprised of Benesse, LITALICO, and the certified NPO Katari-ba, fosters dialogue and initiatives aimed at better accommodating diverse educational needs.
This initiative stems from the rising numbers of school-absent students and a growing understanding of cognitive and developmental variations among children. Each child's uniqueness must become the foundation for reshaping educational experiences, ensuring that all students have access to personalized learning opportunities.
Benesse has made significant strides in supporting varied educational needs, including the establishment of
Benesse High School, a correspondence school, and
Benesse Primary School, both of which are designed to be safe learning environments that promote individual growth. Collaborating with its think tank,
Benesse Educational Research Institute, the company aims to blend educational theory with practical evidence to create best practices in learning.
Benesse's Role at the Conference
At the Diverse Learning Conference, Benesse will engage in several key activities:
1.
