With Honor Action Introduces New Leadership for For Country Caucus in Congress
With Honor Action Welcomes New Leadership at the For Country Caucus
In an exciting development for the 119th Congress, With Honor Action has announced new leadership for its bipartisan For Country Caucus. This initiative is dedicated to bridging divisions in Congress by supporting principled veterans across party lines who commit to serving the public with integrity, civility, and courage.
A Vision for Unity
The incoming co-chairs, Air Force veteran Representative Don Davis and Navy veteran Representative Jake Ellzey, are both eager to harness their military experience to foster collaboration among lawmakers. In a recent statement, Rep. Davis expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "The For Country Caucus is one of the most impactful bipartisan entities in Congress, and I am excited to serve as a co-chair."
Rep. Ellzey mirrored this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of bipartisan work: "Bipartisanship is alive and well here in D.C., and this caucus is a great example of how members from both sides can collaborate to address the needs of the American public."
The For Country Caucus, comprised of 38 military veterans, has notably made strides in passing critical legislation that pertains to national security and veterans' affairs. In the previous Congress, they successfully pushed through more than 100 laws, including significant changes that affected service members' pay and support. For instance, they advocated for a pay raise for junior enlisted servicemen and women and were instrumental in creating an immigrant visa program for Afghan allies.
Commitment to Legislative Success
The strength of the For Country Caucus lies not just in its dedication to bipartisan efforts, but also in its track record of legislative success. The caucus played a crucial role in significant legislative initiatives, such as helping Ukraine amidst Russian aggression, executing the TikTok "divest or ban" law, and establishing public-private partnerships to protect natural resources.
Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, a U.S. Army veteran and vice-chair of the caucus during the last Congress, praised the outgoing leadership for advancing veteran issues and fostering cross-party relationships. She noted, "We are excited to hand the reins over to Rep. Jake Ellzey and Rep. Don Davis and look forward to growing one of the most effective bipartisan platforms in Congress."
New Advisory Board to Strengthen Mission
Alongside the change in leadership, With Honor Action is proud to announce the addition of nine new members to its Advisory Board. This group of leaders includes prominent figures from various sectors, such as Emma Bloomberg, co-founder of Murmuration, and former U.S. Senators Barbara Mikulski and Rob Portman.
Rye Barcott, CEO and co-founder of With Honor Action, stated, "Our Advisory Board drives our mission to dismantle partisan gridlock in Congress, especially as it relates to national security. Together, we can forge alliances across party lines to work on crucial issues for our nation."
Looking Ahead
With the 119th Congress underway, the For Country Caucus is poised to continue its legacy of bipartisan collaboration, embodying the values of civility and integrity. As the new leadership steps into their roles, they are committed to upholding these principles while striving to deliver results on key national security and domestic challenges that require a united front.
As With Honor Action embarks on this new chapter, its dedication to supporting principled veterans and advocating for effective legislation will remain at the forefront of its mission. The hope is that the For Country Caucus, backed by its energetic new leadership, will unyieldingly champion the cause of unity and effective governance in Congress.
