HelpMeSee Launches Innovative Cataract Training Center in Guwahati, India

In an ambitious step towards improving eye healthcare, HelpMeSee and HMS Vision Private Limited have launched a pioneering training initiative focused on cataract surgery in Guwahati, India. This program, partnering with the prestigious Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya (SSDN), aims to build immediate surgical capacity in Northeast India, where access to advanced medical training has been limited.

The training initiative commenced in April at SSDN's campus, leveraging state-of-the-art simulation-based methods to educate ophthalmologists in Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS). Over the course of three to four months, the program aims to train 30 surgeons, ultimately expanding the quality and accessibility of cataract surgeries in the region.

The introduction of simulation-based training represents a significant advancement in ophthalmic education in Northeast India. Due to geographical barriers, many local ophthalmologists face difficulties in accessing major training hubs, often requiring long-distance travel to metropolitan areas.
