Introducing the HD512-9: A Game-Changer Hydraulic Exavator in the REGZAM Series

The New HD512-9: Redefining Hydraulic Excavators

Kato Works, headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, is set to launch the latest addition to its acclaimed REGZAM series of hydraulic excavators: the HD512-9. This innovative, 12-ton class excavator will be available starting July 2026.

Development Background

In response to the growing demand at construction sites for improved operational efficiency, safety, comfort, and maintainability, Kato Works revamped the REGZAM series. The 12-ton hydraulic excavators are especially desirable in urban areas where space is limited, such as in road construction, water infrastructure projects, and residential developments. The HD512-9 inherits excellent mobility and robust performance traits from previous models while enhancing crucial aspects to meet contemporary requirements.

Key Features

1. Superior Performance
Utilizing a new engine, the HD512-9 delivers high power and torque, optimizing the hydraulic system for smooth operation. This leads to a reduction in fuel consumption by 10% during specific operations, while its pulling and rotational torque capabilities are improved by 10% and 18%, respectively. The excavator also boasts versatile attachment adaptability, making it applicable across various work sites.

2. Environmental Considerations
The HD512-9 is equipped with a clean engine that meets the stringent emission regulations of both Japan and Europe, including the 2014 regulation for specific construction vehicles and the European Stage V emissions standards. It has achieved the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s designation of “super low-noise construction machine,” surpassing noise limits by over 6 dB. The excavator also boasts recognition for achieving 100% of the 2020 fuel economy standards.

3. Durability and Maintenance
The excavator’s design incorporates high-performance sintered bushings in all its joints to enhance durability. The renovation of the slewing motor has increased durability by 35%, and the consolidated filter placement enhances accessibility for routine maintenance.

4. Comfort Inside the Cab
The newly designed cab offers increased foot and workspace, boosting both comfort and operational efficiency during climbs and work. The cabin is equipped with a touch panel using the renowned APC control system for efficient mode and hydraulic flow management. The introduction of split floor mats facilitates easier cleaning.

5. Enhanced Safety Features
A new 7-inch LCD display substantially improves visibility, while a side defroster function removes fog from windows. An optional surround view system detects nearby individuals to reduce the risk of accidents, enhancing overall site safety.

6. Security and Operational Management
The HD512-9 features a telematics system called K-cast that allows remote monitoring of the machine’s location, operational status, and fuel levels, improving fleet management. Additionally, an updated entry system uses password authentication to lessen theft risks.
