LULU California Bistro and UCR Group Support Historic Warbirds at Air Races in Roswell
The excitement of aviation history comes to life in Roswell, New Mexico, as the Palm Springs Air Museum showcases some of the most legendary aircraft at the National Championship Air Races. This year, the event, held from September 10 to 14, 2025, will feature the iconic P-63 Kingcobra and P-51 Mustang, two rare warbirds that capture the essence of air combat during World War II.
The Palm Springs Air Museum, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving aviation history, puts on this display thanks to the generous support of LULU California Bistro and UCR Group, LLC. Fred Bell, Vice Chairman of the Palm Springs Air Museum, expressed the importance of sponsorship in making this event possible: “It’s really important to show our support for the National Championship Air Races. We couldn’t participate without help from our sponsors.”
LULU California Bistro, renowned for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse menu in Palm Springs, is led by owner Jerry Keller. He stated, “The Palm Springs Air Museum is the patriotic center of the Coachella Valley. There’s nothing quite like witnessing the powerful engines of the P-51 and the seldom-seen P-63 King Cobra.” His enthusiasm reflects the pride many feel for these historical aircraft.
UCR Group, a real estate development firm based in Redlands, also plays a crucial role in supporting this event. C. Steve Reeder, Advisory Board Chairman for UCR Group, conveyed a heartfelt message about their sponsorship: “God blessed us with the brilliant minds who created these incredible air machines. May we honor all the great people who have taken care of the past, who are taking care of the present, and who will be taking care of the future.” His perspective highlights the importance of not only preserving these aircraft but also recognizing the legacy of those who served.
At the heart of this year's air race event is the restored P-51 Mustang, affectionately named
Bunny. This aircraft is painted with the colors of the Tuskegee Airmen and is adorned with the markings of the late Lt. Col. Bob Friend, who heroically flew 140 missions over Italy in World War II. Alongside Bunny, the
Pretty Polly captures attention as the P-63 Kingcobra, which earned a bronze medal in the unlimited race category in 2023, making a significant mark in aviation racing history.
Interestingly, Pretty Polly holds the title of being the oldest flying P-63 and was the fourth aircraft ever produced from the assembly line. Such historical value adds even greater significance to this year’s air races.
The Palm Springs Air Museum is not just a venue for showcasing aircraft; it serves as an educational resource aimed at preserving aviation history while honoring veterans. With over 75 aircraft, including the F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter, housed within 100,000 square feet of climate-controlled hangars, the museum offers a comprehensive experience. Visitors can delve into the past with an extensive library of 13,500 volumes and flight simulators that enhance educational offerings.
The partnership between LULU California Bistro, UCR Group, and the Palm Springs Air Museum symbolizes a collaborative effort to promote historical appreciation through aviation. As enthusiasts gather in Roswell this September, the roar of engines will not only symbolize aeronautical excellence but also the community’s dedication to honoring the past.
