Significant 6-Month Outcomes of the SPARTAN Study on SI Joint Fusion with TransLoc 3D™

SPARTAN Study Shows Positive Outcomes for SI Joint Fusion

The SPARTAN Study has recently released 6-month interim results from a multi-center clinical analysis assessing the efficacy of the lateral-oblique approach for sacroiliac (SI) joint fusion using the innovative TransLoc 3D™ system. Conducted by CornerLoc™, this prospective study included 114 patients who underwent the procedure, with findings published in the Pain Physician Journal.

As of the latest report, 72 patients have completed their 6-month follow-up, demonstrating significant clinical improvements in both pain and functional outcomes. Utilizing validated patient-reported outcome measures, researchers observed that 91.67% of participants reported enhancements in pain levels and functionality within the study period.

The study utilized a dual-screw configuration comprising two 3D-printed titanium compression screws. Notably, the interim analysis indicated that two-thirds of the patients experienced at least a 50% reduction in pain, with an impressive average pain reduction of 59.90% measured through the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) after 6 months. Meanwhile, the functional results revealed an average improvement of 49.01% based on the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI).

Bob Compton, the CEO of CornerLoc™, expressed optimism regarding the findings, noting the significance of the data in establishing a solid clinical foundation for the TransLoc 3D™ procedure and the lateral-oblique method for SI joint fusion. Compton emphasized that the results affirm a favorable safety profile while delivering substantial pain and functional enhancements for patients.

The diversity of the patient population involved in the SPARTAN Study underscores the relevance of these findings for healthcare providers contemplating SI joint fusion as a therapeutic option. The ongoing study continues to track enrolled patients for an additional 6 months, allowing for further analysis of safety and clinical effectiveness.
