FOD SHORT Launches Its First Original Horror Suspense Series: Missing Train

The Exciting Launch of 'Missing Train' on FOD SHORT

Fuji TV has embraced the digital age with its new vertical short drama app, FOD SHORT, launching its first original horror suspense series titled 'Missing Train'. The series premiered on September 12 at midnight, exclusively available on the FOD SHORT platform.

FOD SHORT aims to provide dramatic storytelling in bite-sized portions, being a concept centered around “short yet memorable dramas”. Each episode is just about one minute long, making it perfect for viewing on smartphones. This makes it convenient for audiences to indulge in gripping stories during their commute or any short breaks throughout the day. Each day, users can access five new episodes for free, making binge-watching feasible and easy.

The Thrills of 'Missing Train'

The series centers around Akemi Oda, a bank employee played by Yuka Sugai, who faces an eerie situation when she dozes off on a train. Her fellow passenger, Yusaku Imamoto portrayed by Takuya Kusakawa, alerts her to an ominous situation: the train is bypassing its scheduled stops and the doors won’t budge. The tension mounts as the passengers become increasingly anxious, especially when the lights suddenly go out and a chilling bell rings right before a passenger vanishes without a trace.

'Missing Train' is a psychological thriller set inside a train, depicting the characters' confrontation with “secrets that cannot be shared.” As an unsettling child figure appears, audiences are pulled into a maze of mystery and suspense alongside the trapped characters. Each revelation brings viewers closer to the unfolding drama, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.

Starring Yuka Sugai and Takuya Kusakawa, the show delivers an intensity that feels far deeper than the time allotted for each episode, thanks to the complex interplay of glances and dialogues even within confined moments.

Synopsis

One fateful night, Akemi Oda awakens in a train only to discover that, alongside Yusaku Imamoto, they are trapped in a bizarre scenario where their train refuses to stop. With no means of communication and the doors sealed shut, the atmosphere grows increasingly hostile as unsettling news clippings about an “assault incident” ominously plaster the walls.

As a bell chimes, a passenger abruptly disappears, intensifying the stress in the confined space. The story gradually unveils the hidden secrets of each passenger, alongside an unsettling presence of a child, strange doors, and the crumbling relationships within the group.

This psychological suspense explores what happens to the “conscience of humanity” as the characters confront their darkest secrets aboard an unyielding train.
