APA Senryu 2026: Unleash Your Creativity!

The APA Hotel Group, boasting the largest network in Japan with 954 hotels and 134,847 rooms, is thrilled to announce the launch of the APA Senryu 2026 competition. This marks the sixth edition of this engaging event, where creative individuals can showcase their poetic skills and stand a chance to win a share of fabulous prizes totaling 1 million yen. The submission period runs from June 2 to September 30, 2025.

Theme: "The Best View"

This year’s theme invites participants to capture their ‘best view’ through the lens of a senryu—a type of Japanese short poetry that is often light-hearted and humorous. Whether it’s a breathtaking landscape encountered during travels, the serene beauty of a memorable spot, or the vibrant energy of a local celebration, all forms of inspiration are welcome. The theme draws from the spirit of the Japanese national soccer team, the Samurai Blue, who inspire joy and togetherness through sports and culture, as encapsulated in their motto: “The Best View 2026 FOR OUR GREATEST STAGE.” Additionally, entries can reflect the rich tradition of Japanese culture, as showcased by the recent Shogi tournaments held at the APA Resort Kasonkyo.

Awards and Prizes

The endeavors of our creative participants will culminate in the selection of 44 winning compositions. Among them, one will receive the prestigious APA Hotel President's Award, and three additional works will be honored with Excellence Awards, including:

• - The APA Hotel President's Award: A luxurious suite stay at the APA Hotel & Resort Osaka Namba, valued at approximately 200,000 yen.
• - Excellence Award: An overnight stay in a room with an open-air bath at APA Resort Kasonkyo, also valued at 200,000 yen.
• - Green Resort Award: A special suite stay at APA Resort Joetsu Myoko valued around 170,000 yen.
• - Dream Award: A deluxe twin room stay at APA Hotel & Resort Tokyo Bay Makuhari, worth about 110,000 yen.
• - Entry Awards: 40 additional entries will receive value prizes totaling 1,000 yen each.

Moreover, for those utilizing the official APA Hotel app for submissions, a bonus of 200 APA points will be awarded, adding extra incentive for participants to engage through this digital platform.

Submission Guidelines

To enter, participants must create original senryu that begins with one of 44 designated phonetic sounds, excluding 'wo' and 'n'. Each individual is permitted to submit up to two entries (maximum of ten lines) during the contest period. Submissions can be made through our dedicated online application or via the APA App.
