City Electric Supply Celebrates Six Years of Growth and Community Impact in North America
City Electric Supply Celebrates Six Years of Growth
City Electric Supply (CES) has recently concluded its sixth consecutive year of expanding its operations across North America. The company has not only opened new branches but has also celebrated significant milestones, emphasizing its commitment to supporting communities and customers in every market it serves.
Co-CEO Andrew Dawes highlighted, "We stayed focused on investing in the people and places that drive our business forward." This year, CES has successfully launched 36 new branches throughout the U.S. and Canada and commemorated the 25-year anniversaries of 11 of its long-standing locations. These branches have played a critical role in building trust and fostering community relationships, which are essential components of CES’s business model.
Co-CEO John Gray stated, "Our branch anniversaries speak volumes. They show the lasting impact of a local CES branch, where teams know their customers and understand their needs." These sentiments reflect the core values of the company, which prioritizes the importance of local service. The recognition of these branches underscores the fact that their consistent community-based services earn the trust of customers year after year.
Meeting Market Demand
To enhance its operational efficiency in the rapidly growing Canadian market, CES inaugurated a new fulfillment center in Toronto. This facility marks the company's first in Canada and the sixth across North America, aiming to significantly improve shipping efficiencies. Rich Antonaros, CES Director of Online North America, remarked, "Toronto filled a key gap in our supply chain. With the number of branches we have in Canada, we needed a facility that could move products faster." This new center positions CES better to meet customer demands promptly.
Throughout the fiscal year, CES made notable strides in workforce expansion by promoting over 227 individuals and welcoming more than 1,000 new employees across North America. Strategic leadership changes were also made, including the retirement of Global Chief Legal Officer Meg Shockley and the promotion of Denton Muse to the role from his prior position as General Counsel for North America. His tenure at CES, which spans over eight years, positions him well to lead the company's legal initiatives.
Additionally, Sharon Hong has been elevated to Chief Communications and Marketing Officer for North America. Starting in 2019, she played a significant role in internal communication as Vice President and is now poised to take on broader responsibilities. In Learning and Development, Blair Cook moved into a leadership position following the retirement of Janie Brown. Cook, who has been with CES for seven years, continues to build upon the solid foundation he helped create.
The transition also saw the retirement of Chief Technology Officer Rob Hodgson after 26 years, with Nancy McConeghy stepping up as his successor. McConeghy brings three decades of experience guiding large teams along with 25 years of pushing for IT innovation as she takes the helm in a pivotal technological space for CES.
Commitment to Community and Team
As Co-CEO Andrew Dawes asserted, "Our success is possible thanks to our people. That’s why we invest in strong leadership — it creates momentum at every level, from national operations to local branches." This strong leadership investment is integral to CES’s growth trajectory. With a workforce of over 5,000 employees across North America, the company continues to embrace a philosophy rooted in service, support, and convenience for its teams and clients.
With the new fiscal year now underway, City Electric Supply remains dedicated to pursuing steady and sustainable growth. Their focus will continue to concentrate on enhancing service offerings while fostering an environment that encourages community engagement and trust, ensuring they are prepared to meet the future demands of their markets with confidence.
