GAC International Reports Outstanding Performance in H1 2026
GAC International has made significant strides in global sales during the first half of 2026. According to the latest company report, GAC's wholesale and retail volumes abroad have doubled compared to the same period last year, with total exports reaching an impressive 121,483 units. This surge marks an extraordinary year-on-year increase of 132%, nearly matching the total export volume for the entire previous year, a landmark achievement for the automaker.
GAC's growth has been impressive across various regions. In the Americas, Mexico's market showed outstanding performance, with models such as the AION ES and AION UT securing spots among the top ten electric vehicle (EV) sales. Bolivia has upheld its status as the leading Chinese passenger vehicle brand, while countries like Brazil and Colombia also experienced notable growth. In the Asia-Pacific region, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region saw GAC rise to the top spot in private electric vehicle sales in April, following the phase-out of subsidies, achieving a market share of over 11% from January to May. Singapore ranked second among pure electric vehicle brands in April, with a share close to 7%, and Thailand maintained its number one position in the electric taxi segment. Noteworthy growth was also recorded in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, GAC has been actively expanding its reach in Europe, with the AION UT beginning production in Austria and making its European debut in Milan. Following this move, official entries into the UK and Spain have established an initial operational system for full-chain operations. In the Middle East and Africa, the EMZOOM topped the B-segment SUV market in Lebanon, while significant year-on-year sales growth has been observed across the region.
In addition to sales performance, GAC has garnered substantial international recognition for its vehicle quality. In Kuwait, the company clinched two awards for offering the best overall vehicle quality and highest residual value among Chinese manufacturers. In Thailand, GAC outperformed all Chinese brands in three-year residual value, showcasing its commitment to quality and reliability. The AION UT continues its string of successes, capturing the top position in pure electric hatchback sales across Hong Kong, Colombia, Uruguay, and Singapore. Over 600 pre-orders have also been placed in Australia, while the model has been honored with multiple awards, including the title of best-selling BEV in Bolivia and first in export growth for Chinese A0 electric hatchbacks in May.
