Introducing Setoto: A Nutritional Frozen Food Brand for Kids from Setouchi

Setoto: A New Approach to Healthy Child Nutrition

On April 25, 2026, a new frozen baby food brand called Setoto will launch, created by Delights, a company operated by Mikaki Tagami. This brand reflects their commitment to fostering healthy growth in children while highlighting the rich seafood resources of the Setouchi region. The introduction of Setoto comes from the gathering of valuable input from over 4,000 users of their previously established baby food line, "mom's." Parents expressed a strong desire for more high-quality fish options, prompting Tagami to relocate the production base from Tokyo to Takamatsu.

Addressing the Challenges of Seafood Consumption

The decision to move the production site was fueled by the need to provide nutritious options while easing the burden of fish preparation for busy families. Fish is often avoided by parents due to concerns over preparation and the presence of bones. With a focus on the superior quality and freshness of local seafood, Setoto aims to encourage families to add more fish to their diets, addressing nutritional needs crucial for children.

Unique Menu Offerings

Setoto’s menu is designed around three main features:

1. Whole Iri-ko Experience: Utilizing high-quality, unsold sardines from Ibuki Island, Tagami presents these fish as a safe, calcium-rich option for younger children. The innovative processing transforms sardines into kid-friendly dishes, ensuring the preservation of the local food culture.

2. Support for Local Fishing Communities: Setoto emphasizes the use of underappreciated fish, contributing to sustainable fishing practices. By incorporating species like black sea bream, which may compete with cultivated nori and oysters, Setoto seeks to enhance local fisheries while presenting dishes made from unique, less commercially viable fish.

3. Reimagining Local Flavors: Traditional dishes like Kagawa's sweet white miso dumpling soup are adapted for younger palates, offering flavors that the whole family can enjoy, encouraging shared mealtime experiences.

Future Goals and National Outreach

Setoto will participate in the large-scale children's seafood promotion event, "Sakana Bunkasai 2025," set to attract around 20,000 elementary students in November 2025. The response to their pre-launch offering of fried Iri-ko, which promptly sold out in Minato Mirai, Yokohama, reflects the growing interest in and demand for their products. Tagami and her team are committed to spreading the health benefits of seafood while nurturing a love for fish among children.
