Hotel Metropolitan's Saiten Cocktail Fair

From July 1 to August 31, 2025, the Hotel Metropolitan in Toshima, Tokyo, invites you to the Saiten Cocktail Fair at the bar Oriental Express, where you can explore a unique cocktail experience. Under the direction of General Manager Shigeo Ito, this event showcases the rich flavors of traditional Japanese shochu, particularly the iichiko Saiten, a premium barley shochu that recently earned the prestigious Platinum Award at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

The iichiko Saiten is celebrated for maximizing the umami derived from koji, making it highly regarded in the global cocktail community. To commemorate its launch in Japan, the fair will feature four distinct cocktails crafted using this acclaimed shochu, offering a fresh perspective on Japan's beloved distilled spirit.

Cocktail Lineup

1. Seika: A fragrant concoction that pairs fresh pink grapefruit juice with bergamot liqueur. The subtle bitterness of tonic water complements the lively aroma of bergamot, resulting in an elegant cocktail perfect for summer.

2. Nanpu: This tropical delight utilizes abundant fresh pineapple, offering a delightful texture alongside natural sweetness. Enhanced by apple cider vinegar, it provides a crisp finish, evoking the refreshing essence of summer.

3. Enyo: This dry cocktail marries the zest of Japanese citrus with the spiciness of ginger beer. The combination of kabosu and yuzu elevates the Saiten's flavor profile, amplified by the invigorating fizz of ginger beer, making it ideal for hot days.

4. Suzukaze: A summer staple that combines fresh lemon juice and soda, garnished with rock salt to accentuate its refreshing nature. The creamy notes of Saiten harmonize beautifully with the lemon's brightness and the salt’s nuances, creating a rejuvenating drink.

The cocktail fair runs daily from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, except for Sundays and public holidays in July. Each cocktail is available for ¥1,800, inclusive of service charge and tax. This is a golden opportunity to savor innovative flavors that celebrate Japan's traditional spirits.
