Greg Berman Takes the Helm at Colorado Permanente Medical Group

In a significant leadership change, Dr. Greg Berman has been appointed as the president and executive medical director of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group, effective March 28, 2026. This marks a pivotal moment for the medical group, as it positions Dr. Berman to lead one of the largest multispecialty healthcare organizations in Colorado.

Dr. Berman stepped into this permanent role after serving on an interim basis since August 2025. He succeeds Dr. Jeff Krawcek, who transitioned to serve as the executive vice president and CEO of the KP Medical Foundation in 2025. The Colorado Permanente Medical Group has a distinguished reputation, caring for approximately 500,000 Kaiser Permanente members across various specialties through a physician-owned structure.

According to Antigone Parrish, MD, the chair of the Colorado Permanente Medical Group Board of Directors, “Dr. Berman stood out as the right leader for this moment and for our future.” His selection followed a thorough search process focused on the need for a leader who embodies a physician-as-leader mindset, analytical expertise, and the capacity to navigate change with empathy and respect.

With a career spanning over fifteen years within Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Berman’s extensive clinical and administrative experience will be invaluable in his new role. Prior to his recent interim role, he served as the vice president and executive medical director of operations, where he significantly contributed to the expansion of Kaiser Permanente's hospital partnerships in the Denver metro area, enhancing access to primary and specialty care for patients.

Cortney Eisses, RN, interim regional president of Kaiser Permanente in Colorado, shared high praise for Dr. Berman, stating, “He is a steady, collaborative leader who brings people together around shared priorities and transparent decision-making.” Dr. Berman’s leadership style aligns closely with Kaiser Permanente’s values, emphasizing a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, affordable healthcare.

In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Berman remains dedicated to patient care as a practicing anesthesiologist. His ongoing work in the operating room serves to reinforce his connection to patient needs, ensuring that his leadership is directly informed by real-world experiences in the medical field. He stated, “That direct connection to patient care keeps me grounded in our shared purpose of making high-quality, affordable healthcare even better for our members.”

Dr. Berman’s educational background is equally impressive. He earned a Bachelor’s degree, a Medical degree, and an MBA from Indiana University, followed by an internship there. He completed his residency in clinical anesthesiology at the University of Colorado and is board-certified in anesthesiology.

Dr. Berman’s ascension to a leadership role marks an exciting chapter for the Colorado Permanente Medical Group as it seeks to elevate its services and continue fostering a supportive environment for both patients and healthcare providers. With the combined efforts of its dedicated physicians and leadership, the organization is well-positioned to navigate the evolving landscape of healthcare, enhancing the overall well-being of its members in Colorado.
