SRA OSS Launches PowerGres V17
On June 27, 2025, SRA OSS, based in Toshima, Tokyo, officially unveiled PowerGres V17, the latest version of its commercial offering built on the well-known open-source database PostgreSQL. This new version aims to improve usability and provide reliable support, further aligning with PostgreSQL's strengths while enhancing its capabilities for enterprise-level solutions.
PowerGres is designed under three core principles: to boost usability, ensure reliable performance, and provide comprehensive support services for PostgreSQL users. It comes equipped to handle various configurations, including single-instance, replication, and high availability (HA) setups. With over 17,000 installations under its belt, PowerGres has established a track record for excellent cost-performance in database deployment.
New Features in PowerGres V17
The newly launched PowerGres V17 includes two distinct variants: "PowerGres on Windows" and "PowerGres on Linux." Both versions leverage PostgreSQL 17 and come with several prominent new features:
1.
AI and Machine Learning Integration: PowerGres V17 now supports integration with AI and machine learning applications through the introduction of `pgvector` and `pgvectorscale` (exclusive to PowerGres on Linux). This allows users to directly handle AI-generated vector data, enabling swift and scalable similarity searches and semantic searches. This feature simplifies the development of AI applications.
2.
Enhanced Auditing Capabilities: With the addition of `pgAudit`, the new version incorporates robust auditing functionality. This feature automatically records the history of system operations, facilitating traceability and detection of unauthorized access or erroneous operations. It significantly bolsters internal controls and enhances overall security.
Alongside these major updates, PowerGres V17 also includes numerous additional improvements, such as faster backup processing and enhanced replication capabilities, making it a more robust and efficient database solution.
