Choice Hotels International Appoints Tony Pallas as Chief Technology Officer, Leading Tech Innovations
Choice Hotels International, a significant player in the global lodging franchise market, has recently announced the promotion of Tony Pallas to the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This strategic move aims to strengthen the company’s technology initiatives, particularly at the crucial intersection of hospitality and innovation.
In his new position, Pallas is tasked with overseeing the company’s enterprise technology and engineering functions, alongside the management of SkyTouch Technology, which focuses on hotel operations and property management solutions. Reporting directly to Anna Scozzafava, the Chief Data, AI, and Technology Officer, Pallas is expected to play a pivotal role in driving Choice Hotels' ongoing technology evolution.
Pallas’ promotion has come as no surprise, given his established track record of leadership within the technology and hospitality sectors. Under his guidance, Choice Hotels has made remarkable strides in platform modernization efforts and the expansion of cloud-based services. Notably, during his tenure as Chief Commercial and Technology Officer for the hotel property management system, Pallas led initiatives that resulted in a staggering 68% growth in annual revenues and nearly a 100% increase in EBITDA. This impressive performance highlights his capacity to effectively double business outcomes within a comparatively short period.
In addition to his commercial achievements, Pallas has also served as the executive sponsor and chief architect for CHARLIE, one of the innovative AI-driven solutions provided by Choice Hotels. Launched at the annual convention last month, CHARLIE is designed to carry out various tasks, showcasing the company’s commitment to embedding artificial intelligence within its service offerings. During his tenure as CTO, Pallas will be instrumental in advancing the capabilities of other AI-enabled tools like Choice Hotels Business Direct, EasyBid, and RAISE. These technologies are specifically tailored to assist hotel owners in harnessing demand, bolstering operational efficiency, and adapting to the evolving landscape of travel and booking processes.
Prior to joining Choice Hotels, Pallas lent his expertise to numerous organizations by developing strategies around emerging technologies and tailored software solutions that spanned across different platforms, including web and mobile applications. His experience will prove invaluable in navigating the increasingly digital landscape of the hospitality sector, wherein technology is integral to enhancing customer and franchisee experiences.
"Technology continues to play an increasingly important role in how we serve hotel owners, operators, and guests. I look forward to working alongside our talented teams to build scalable solutions, advance AI-driven innovation, and deliver technologies that support our stakeholders' success while positioning our company for continued growth in an increasingly digital world. I am honored to take on this role at such an exciting time for Choice Hotels," Pallas expressed following his appointment.
Choice Hotels International, Inc. operates a remarkable portfolio of over 7,500 hotels across 51 countries, comprising nearly 650,000 rooms. Renowned for its diverse collection of 22 brands, including economy, midscale, and full-service properties, the company has remained committed to meeting the needs of travelers while enhancing value for franchise owners and shareholders. The Choice Privileges rewards program further heightens the customer experience by offering personalized perks and reward night opportunities.
With Pallas at the helm of technology, Choice Hotels is poised to continue expanding its influence and innovation in the hospitality sector, reinforcing its status as a leading lodging franchisor in the global market.
