Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan and Partners Launch Logistics Collaboration in Tokai Region

Collaboration to Enhance Logistics Efficiency in Tokai Region

Coca-Cola Bottlers Japan, Chubu Kousan, and Sugi Pharmacy are embarking on a significant collaboration to improve logistics efficiency in the Tokai region. This initiative, which begins on October 1, 2025, aims to streamline the distribution process and tackle the growing challenges of logistics in the area.

The partnership consolidates delivery points for Coca-Cola products to the Chubu Kousan's Kakimi Front Center, which serves as a hub for further distribution to Sugi Pharmacy and other members of the Valo Group. By centralizing these operations, the companies aim to enhance truck load efficiency while reducing the operational burden on drivers.

Previously, Coca-Cola delivered products directly to various points within Sugi Pharmacy and the Valo Group's logistics systems. However, the new collaborative model is designed to unify transportation routes, allowing for more efficient load capacities. Additionally, with Sugi Pharmacy, which has an extensive store network across the region, becoming an integral part of the distribution effort, the collaboration addresses the so-called 'Logistics 2024 Problem' — a serious issue concerning driver shortages that is anticipated to exacerbate in the near future.

Chubu Kousan will not only manage the transportation logistics but also oversee inventory control, the arrangement of trucks and drivers, and scheduling. This holistic approach is expected to contribute to a more even workload for drivers and warehouse staff, as well as optimizing warehouse space usage.

The collaboration transcends traditional industry boundaries, allowing the three companies to come together in addressing pressing societal challenges, including the ongoing Logistics 2024 Problem in the Tokai region. By actively sharing ideas and establishing a new collaborative framework across different sectors, they aim to optimize limited logistical resources while pursuing the sustainable and stable supply of products.
