Vanfu Design Contest 2026: Celebrating Creativity Across Generations



The Vanfu Design Contest, organized by Vanfu Co., Ltd., a comprehensive printing company headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, recently concluded its 2026 edition, announcing an impressive 82 award-winning designs out of a staggering 6,329 submitted entries. This year's contest showcased a rich variety of creative talents, drawing submissions from participants ranging from elementary school students to seniors.

Highlights of the Student T-Shirt Design Contest


In the 17th Vanfu Student T-Shirt Design Contest, themed “Fresh,” a total of 2,121 entries were submitted. The grand prize winner, Riho Kuyama, developed a striking design that utilized the bright color of an orange t-shirt, creating a dynamic white motif that enhances the t-shirt's vibrance. The design ensures the orange remains the focal point, encapsulating a sense of freshness through simplicity and clever use of negative space.

Other Notable Winners


  • - Gail Kan won an excellence award by portraying freshness through a playful lemon design, emphasizing its vibrant yellow and soda context.
  • - Juuki Sakano drew inspiration from water, recalling nostalgic childhood memories of splashing friends. His bright and vivid colors aim to evoke a feeling of youthful freshness.

Tote Bag Design Contest


The 8th Vanfu Student Tote Bag Design Contest, themed “Everyday,” attracted 2,603 submissions and celebrated everyday creativity. Kenichiro Kiyono won the top prize with an imaginative design depicting a crowded train filled with flowers instead of people, reflecting a whimsical thought process while commuting to school.

  • - Hiroki Sato illustrated his experience of raising medaka fish, seamlessly capturing everyday life in his design.
  • - Zenta Ishikawa creatively expressed the daily grind of life, portraying the chaotic yet familiar rhythm of modern existence.

New Year's Card Contest


The 17th New Year's Card Design Contest attracted 1,605 participants with the theme focused on designs for the year 2027. Nana Miyake took home the grand prize for a whimsical representation of a sheep, humorously showcasing the character knitting using its own wool. The rich scenery behind adds depth and a charming narrative element to her design.

  • - Daisuke Takiguchi’s entry reflected champagne-like excitement with a plump sheep, while kasa expressed energetic motion through typographic elements.
