Nissui Construction Joins Forces for Himeji's Water Treatment Project



Nissui Construction Co., Ltd., headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, is pleased to announce that it has secured a contract for the "Koyama Water Treatment Plant Renewal Project" through a collaborative entity that includes Taisei Corporation, Hamada Co., Ltd., Kubota Corporation, and Toshiba Corporation. The project is set to commence on April 12, 2025, in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture.

Background and Importance of the Project



The Koyama Water Treatment Plant has been serving Himeji City since its inauguration in 1970, marking approximately 50 years of operation. However, the facility is now facing challenges related to aging infrastructure and insufficient earthquake resistance.

As part of Himeji's Water Supply Vision, this project is positioned to fulfill the core objectives of being "resilient," "safe," and "sustainable," with a particular focus on enhancing the plant’s resilience. It aims to not only improve the earthquake-resistant features of the Koyama facility but also strengthen crisis management systems. Furthermore, the project will facilitate a stable and safe water supply in Himeji, promoting operational efficiency for sustainable water services.

Objective


Design and construction of a new water treatment facility. The new plant, designed to accommodate the same operational capacity as the existing one, will be built close to the current site with a maximum capacity of 60,000 m³/day.

Duration


The project will run from April 12, 2025, to March 31, 2031.

Contracting Methodology


The project will be executed using a Design-Build (DB) approach, ensuring seamless integration between design and construction phases.

The nominal capacity is set at 60,000 m³ per day.

Budget


The total project budget is approximately 24.7 billion yen (including tax).
