The Wellness Tourism Association Under New Leadership: A Fresh Chapter in Global Wellness Tourism

The Wellness Tourism Association: A New Era Begins

The Wellness Tourism Association (WTA) has officially announced its relaunch, now operating as a for-profit entity under the dynamic leadership of Robin Ruiz, the Founder and CEO of WITT (Wellness in Travel and Tourism). This pivotal transition marks a significant moment in the evolution of wellness tourism, a sector increasingly recognized for its potential to enhance well-being through travel.

Founded in 2018 as a non-profit organization, the WTA has played a critical role in shaping wellness tourism, helping to establish standards and foster synergy among industry players. Now, as it moves into this new chapter, the WTA aims to merge innovative ideas with its foundational legacy of advocacy and education.

A Vision for Wellness Tourism

Under the guidance of Ruiz, the WTA is set to reinvigorate its mission of building a comprehensive network comprising Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs), suppliers, travel advisors, practitioners, retreat leaders, media, and aligned partners across the globe. Ruiz's proven track record with WITT, which specializes in promoting wellness through travel, was influential in her selection as the President and CEO of WTA.

"With several companies expressing interest in reviving WTA, Robin's passion and mission-driven leadership made her the clear choice to carry the association forward," remarked Anne Dimon, Co-Founder, and founding President/CEO of WTA. Dimon will continue to serve an advisory role, ensuring a smooth transition as WTA expands its vision.

Expanding Educational Offerings

As part of this relaunch, the Wellness Tourism Association is focusing on uniting industry leaders and fostering connections within the wellness tourism community. Key initiatives include improved member benefits, the introduction of new educational offerings, and an increase in industry initiatives.

The previous offerings, such as the first-ever Glossary of Wellness Tourism Terms and foundational industry research and consumer surveys, laid the groundwork for what is to come. Plans are already in motion to enhance their educational programs, including the creation of the inaugural Wellness Travel Specialist Course with The Travel Institute. This course aims to provide essential training for professionals looking to navigate the complexities of wellness tourism effectively.

Renewed Commitment to Change

"The WTA has been a beacon in wellness tourism — and its voice is still needed," emphasized Ruiz. "This relaunch is a recommitment to changemakers who view travel as a vehicle for personal health and well-being. I am dedicated to honoring the WTA's legacy, building on its existing foundations, and reintroducing it as a venue for new ideas and voices in this essential industry."

A Hub for Future Connections

With its renewed focus, the Wellness Tourism Association aims to be an essential hub for advocacy, education, and collaboration. Whether through events, forums, or networking opportunities, WTA seeks to create a thriving community that supports wellness tourism professionals and enthusiasts alike.
