Roam Charging Unveils Initiative to Upgrade EV Chargers for Businesses with £1,000 Incentive
Roam Charging Launches New Initiative for EV Charger Upgrades
In a significant move aimed at promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption and infrastructure improvement, Roam Charging has launched a new initiative that provides businesses with up to £1,000 to replace outdated EV chargers. The program is designed to encourage organizations to upgrade from old, faulty, or non-compliant charging systems, ensuring a seamless experience for EV users.
Addressing the Challenge of Aging Infrastructure
As the demand for electric vehicles grows, maintaining reliable charging infrastructure has become crucial. Many businesses currently operate older chargers that may no longer meet the necessary standards or offer an adequate user experience. Roam Charging's initiative addresses this issue by offering financial assistance to replace such infrastructure. Organizations can benefit from a seamless transition to modern, fully managed chargers that comply with Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) standards.
Roam's CEO, James Randall, emphasized the need for revitalized charging options, stating that many locations in the UK have charging systems that are either outdated or not providing the necessary level of service. He explained, “Replacing charging equipment can understandably feel like a significant investment, particularly when the original infrastructure may have only been installed a few years ago. We wanted to remove that barrier.”
Details of the Initiative
Under this initiative, businesses that enter into a long-term lease or site agreement with Roam can receive £500 for each single-socket charger replaced and £1,000 for every dual-socket charger. Not only will they benefit financially, but the program also ensures that the installation and management of the new equipment incur no costs. Roam takes on the responsibilities of managing and maintaining these updated chargers.
The initiative is particularly beneficial for various establishments, such as hotels, residential developments, and workplaces, that have been stuck with outdated or unmanaged charging solutions. Roam's fully funded service includes the removal of qualifying chargers and the installation of the new equipment, allowing organizations to upgrade their facilities without facing financial burdens.
Additionally, Roam is committed to responsible recycling. All outdated equipment removed as part of the program will be processed as Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), permitting recovery of valuable raw materials and reducing landfill contributions.
Future-Proofing EV Infrastructure
With rapid advancements in EV technology, having non-compliant or aging EV chargers can lead to future operational challenges. Randall pointed out that “as the number of electric vehicles continues to grow, reliable charging is becoming increasingly important wherever people live, work, stay or visit.” This initiative aims to alleviate the growing pains associated with outdated technology, offering a straightforward path to enhanced charging infrastructure that not only meets today’s needs but is also adaptable for the future.
Roam's new chargers, compliant with OCPP standards, help organizations avoid being tied to unsustainable technologies and enable them to offer a more reliable service. By reducing management overhead and ongoing costs associated with older chargers, Roam is ensuring that businesses can focus on their core operations while offering an essential service to their customers.
