Beko, a prominent player in the consumer durables and electronics market, has set an impressive benchmark by securing an outstanding ESG score of 89 out of 100 in the latest S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for 2024. This recognition marks the sixth consecutive year that Beko has achieved the highest score in the DHP (Durable Household Products) sector, underscoring its long-standing dedication to sustainable practices.

A Commitment to Sustainability

The CSA evaluates environmental, social, and governance efforts of major corporations across the globe, making Beko's achievement particularly significant. Alongside this, Beko's inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for the eighth consecutive year demonstrates its ongoing excellence in sustainability.

As Hakan Bulgurlu, CEO of Beko, stated, “Achieving net-zero emissions in line with the 1.5°C climate pathway is our ultimate priority.” Beko's ambitious targets entail reducing greenhouse gas emissions significantly and showcase the company's focus on innovation and corporate responsibility.

Climate Goals and Science-Based Targets

Beko’s validation of its climate goals by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) reinforces its position as a forerunner in environmental stewardship. Specifically, it aims for a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a similar reduction in Scope 3 emissions from product usage, measured against a 2022 baseline.

Looking towards its longer-term ambitions, Beko plans to achieve a remarkable 90% cut in both Scope 1 and 2, as well as Scope 3 emissions by 2050, compared to 2022 levels. This ambitious approach exemplifies Beko's unwavering commitment to combating climate change through concrete action.

Inspiring Industry-wide Changes

Beyond monitoring its own progress, Beko is setting an example for other companies by prioritizing environmental responsibility. By leading through action, it hopes to inspire businesses globally to integrate sustainability within their corporate strategies, ultimately encouraging a collective drive toward a greener future.

Beko’s strategy includes advancements in technology aimed at improving the energy efficiency of its products while simultaneously reducing the carbon footprint. Investments in renewable energy are also a critical part of its plan to foster a sustainable corporate culture.
