New Online Payment Feature for Yu-Pack Labels
Japan's largest hotel chain, APA Hotels, is set to enhance its existing Yu-Pack label printing service by introducing an online payment feature from January 27, 2026. This new addition aims to provide a smoother shipping experience for international travelers, addressing concerns related to pricing transparency and payment processes during their stay.
Background
With a significant rise in the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan, APA Hotels initiated a multilingual Yu-Pack label printing service in October 2024. This service enables users to effortlessly print shipping labels using their smartphones at hotels across Tokyo. However, travelers have faced challenges with varying shipping costs based on package size and destination, often finding the process cumbersome due to size measurements and payments at hotel counters. Additionally, hotel staff have reported increased administrative burdens with the growing demand for shipping services.
This prompted the introduction of a more streamlined solution. The traditional method of generating QR codes for label printing at hotel locations will now include the convenience of online payment.
Service Overview
With this enhanced Yu-Pack service, travelers will now generate a QR code via a dedicated website allowing them to print shipping labels from printers located in hotels. The inclusion of online payment means that both size measurements and on-site payments will be eliminated, significantly speeding up the shipping process. Furthermore, travelers can enjoy a discount of 180 yen off the base shipping rate when using online payment for each Yu-Pack parcel sent.
This means visitors can easily mail their belongings without the hassle of carrying heavy items around while enjoying their travels in Japan. Initially, this service will be launched at APA Hotel & Resort Roppongi Ekimae and APA Hotel Sapporo Odori Ekimae, with plans for gradual expansion to additional locations.
Payment Methods
Travelers can choose from credit or debit card options for their online payments. However, it is important to note that existing discounts such as the bring-in discount, same-address discount, and multiple-package discount do not apply to this service.
