Air Canada Introduces Innovative Cabin Experience
Air Canada has officially launched its next-generation cabin design known as 'Glowing Hearted.' This new design emphasizes comfort, consideration, and connection—hallmarks of a distinctly Canadian in-flight experience. This transformation will first be introduced on the new Airbus A321XLR and Boeing 787-10 aircraft. The Airbus A321XLR will feature Canada’s first fully flat seats in a narrow-body aircraft, while the Boeing 787-10 will offer exclusive access to the new 'Air Canada Signature Plus Suite,' elevating long-distance travel with premium space and privacy.
On April 14, 2026, during the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany, Air Canada showcased this innovative design alongside details about its largest-ever cabin investment. The 'Glowing Hearted' standard promises to deliver an exceptional flying experience, ensuring that all flights focus on comfort, care, and connectivity.
Mark Nasoo, Air Canada's Vice President and COO, emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, "We are redefining the flight experience at Air Canada. From the moment passengers step on board, we seek to create a new standard in how customers feel connected to our brand, responding directly to their wants and needs. Our focus on craftsmanship and functionality, combined with a Canadian sense of place, embodies our commitment to passenger comfort. This investment is a core element of our growth strategy, 'New Frontiers,' aimed at establishing Air Canada as a global leader in air travel."
Cabin Enhancements Across the Fleet
The refreshed cabin will first debut during the summer on the Airbus A321XLR, which will introduce the 'Air Canada Signature Class' with full-flat seats, fundamentally redefining comfort standards for narrow-body long-haul flights. This state-of-the-art aircraft not only opens up new transatlantic routes but also enhances premium travel options across an expanded network in North America.
All passengers will benefit from a range of upgrades introduced with the new design:
- - Modern Ergonomic Seating: Designed for maximum personal space, equipped with tablet holders and larger overhead bins.
- - Large 4K OLED Screens and Bluetooth Audio: Every seat will feature significantly larger screens with Bluetooth audio capabilities.
- - High-Powered USB-C and AC Power Outlets: Passengers will have power access at every seat, ensuring devices remain charged throughout the journey.
- - Enhanced Premium Economy Comfort: The Premium Economy cabin will introduce privacy wings to improve passenger comfort further.
Exclusive Premium Products
One of the standout features of this refurbishment is the introduction of unique premium products on both aircraft types:
Airbus A321XLR:
- - A total of 14 fully flat seats will be available in a new 'Air Canada Signature Class,' setting new comfort standards for long-haul travel in narrow-body aircraft.
- - Every seat will sport a high-definition 4K OLED screen complemented by Bluetooth audio.
Boeing 787-10:
- - The introduction of 'Air Canada Signature Plus' will provide enhanced comfort and experience with luxurious suites at the front of the plane, equipped with companion seating.
- - Four exclusive suites featuring large beds, quartzite-topped tables, and dedicated guest seating ensure a high level of privacy.
- - Specially designed central suites with retractable privacy panels make this configuration ideal for group travel.
Design and Quality Inspired by Canada
Both aircraft's new cabin designs draw inspiration from Canada’s natural beauty and culture, creating a modern atmosphere that evokes a sense of calm. Key design features include:
- - Signature red stitching and custom fabric that reflect Canadian sensibilities.
- - Natural wood detailing and bronze accents that bring warmth and sophistication.
- - Use of high-quality materials, such as leather finishes and metal details, that convey both style and durability.
Upon entering the A321XLR, passengers will be welcomed by a canopy illuminated by a backlight, reminiscent of the iconic maple leaf, creating an immediate connection to Canada. Similarly, the entrance to the Boeing 787-10’s Premium cabin is adorned with a flowing design centerpiece inspired by Canada’s waterways, featuring Air Canada’s bronze roundel.
Throughout 2023, additional information regarding an integrated hospitality experience—ranging from departure to arrival—will be released, showcasing upgraded in-flight services, meals, and amenities that highlight Canada’s unique charm.
Ongoing Fleet Modernization
In addition to the enhancements for the A321XLR and 787-10, Air Canada is also updating the interiors of its other aircraft. Current Airbus A320 and A321 models operated by Air Canada Rouge will transition to the main fleet, receiving upgrades to align with the latest design standards. The Boeing 737 MAX will move to Air Canada Rouge in 2026, enhancing leisure routes across North America and the Caribbean with upgraded entertainment and improved connectivity.
Air Canada’s commitment to a rich customer experience goes beyond just cabin upgrades. The 'Glowing Hearted' standard reflects investment in amenities, meals, entertainment, connectivity, and digital tools. Modernization of its lounge network supports these improvements, and new or renovated lounges will open in Canada and Europe in 2023. All these endeavors are supported by over 39,000 dedicated employees representing Air Canada globally.
