Wesco Celebrates Global Day of Caring and Honors Champion of the Year
On June 19, 2025, Wesco International proudly hosted its annual Day of Caring, a global event designed to emphasize the company's commitment to the communities where its employees live and work. This day of service saw participation from nearly 5,000 employees across various locations worldwide. Each participant engaged in volunteer work and community service projects designed to uplift and support local charities.
The festivities not only brought together employees for a common cause, but also included an important announcement. Wesco introduced Scott Carstens, the Senior Operations Manager from its Charlotte, North Carolina facility, as the recipient of the 2025 Wesco Cares Champion of the Year Award. This recognition is awarded to an employee who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to community service beyond the confines of their workplace.
Scott Carstens is not just a dedicated employee; he is a passionate volunteer who actively contributes to organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Best Buddies, and the Wounded Warrior Foundation. In particular, his dedication to the Wounded Warrior Foundation holds personal significance, reflecting his own background as a retired veteran after 27 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps.
During the Day of Caring, participants were encouraged to learn about various community service opportunities available to them, along with information about matching gift programs and paid volunteer time off initiatives. Additionally, Wesco's corporate giving programs support partnerships with reputable organizations like the American Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. As a result, the company's efforts this year have led employees to log almost 1,000 volunteer hours, contributing over $210,000 in donations to nearly 200 charities, with company matches included.
When asked about what volunteering means to him, Carstens stated, “Large waves do not start out that size; they begin as ripples. I try to provide a ripple of support with the hope that a wave of good fortune will affect others.” This philosophy encapsulates the spirit and mission behind Wesco’s Day of Caring and the ongoing commitment of its employees to positively impact their communities.
Chris Wolf, Wesco's Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, expressed great pride in recognizing Scott as the Champion of the Year. He remarked, “His unwavering commitment to serving others and making a meaningful impact in our communities is truly inspiring. He leads by example, showing us all what it means to give generously of our time and talents.” This celebration of community service serves as a reminder of the potential for small actions to generate significant change.
The annual Day of Caring highlights Wesco's dedication not only to its business operations but also to fostering a culture of philanthropy and community involvement among its employees. The emphasis on volunteerism and corporate social responsibility is a key driver of the positive impacts Wesco continues to have on the global community.
