Rockler and Foureyes Furniture Introduce the 'Small Space, Big Impact' Challenge
As homes and workspaces increasingly serve multiple functions—like a guest room doubling as an office or a dining room that transforms into a workshop—creativity in maximizing limited space has become a necessity. In response to this growing trend, Rockler Woodworking & Hardware, in collaboration with Chris Salomone from Foureyes Furniture, has launched the 'Rockler Small Space Challenge' for DIY enthusiasts and woodworking aficionados.
A National Call to Action
The challenge encourages participants across the country to design and showcase their most innovative and space-efficient furniture solutions. From folding tables to wall-mounted storage units, the focus is on proving that small areas can also deliver big ideas.
Ann Rockler Jackson, owner of Rockler Woodworking & Hardware, emphasizes the importance of creativity in furniture design, stating, "With the right tools and innovative thinking, anyone can customize their environment to meet their unique needs." This initiative not only inspires creativity but also promotes functional design, making even the tightest corners livable and aesthetically pleasing.
Chris Salomone, renowned for his engaging woodworking content on YouTube, serves as the lead judge. He shares, "I’m looking forward to seeing what innovative projects participants will present. Constraints often compel creativity, and I can't wait to see how people tackle the small space challenge."

Design Tips for Participants
To assist participants, Salomone shares three key strategies:
1.
Unlock Your Imagination: While it’s a small space challenge, think big. Find unique ways to utilize even the smallest areas by working backwards from a visionary idea.
2.
Focus on Multifunctionality: Consider designs for furniture that can serve multiple purposes, like lift-top tables or nesting units that capitalize on space efficiency.
3.
Invest in Quality Hardware: The right hardware is critical for ensuring that innovative designs hold up over time, especially in multi-functional designs.
