Power Metallic Mines Inc. Unveils Promising Drill Results from the Lion Zone Expansion Project
Power Metallic Mines Inc. Expands the Lion Zone
Power Metallic Mines Inc. recently announced significant developments in their exploration efforts, particularly focusing on the Lion Zone of their Nisk project. The results from their winter 2025 drilling campaign confirm promising findings, characterized by exceptionally high grades of copper, gold, and silver. The operations are pivotal in understanding the deeper mineralization patterns within the Lion Zone, which emerges as a beacon of potential for the company.
Overview of Drilling Campaign
During this drilling season, Power Metallic conducted five exploratory drill holes—PN-25-096, 097, 100, and PML-25-001 and 002—targeting the eastern margin of the Lion Zone. These holes were strategically planned to assess the down plunge extent of known polymetallic mineralization, as well as to explore anomalies identified in previous drilling attempts. Impressively, all five drill holes encountered mineralization consistent with the Lion style, affirming the area's geological promise.
Noteworthy Assay Results
Among the standout findings from the drilling campaign, hole PN-25-096 reported an exceptional intersection of 1.95 meters yielding an impressive 13.54 g/t of gold, alongside 236.6 g/t of silver and a copper grade of 1.08%. This represents a significant discovery as it occurs in a previously unexamined stratigraphic layer, suggesting potential for a more complex mineralization pattern than what has been typical in this zone.
In contrast, holes PN-25-100 and PML-25-001 and 002 revealed sections with massive sulphides exhibiting exceedingly high copper concentrations of 15% and 29.3%, respectively. This shift from the previously encountered lower-grade disseminated minerals to these concentrated high-grade areas points towards a possible transition to a more lucrative Ni/Cu massive sulphide deposit, characteristic of significant polymetallic mining districts globally.
Expert Insights
CEO Terry Lynch emphasized the importance of these findings, noting, "With each set of assays we are growing the Lion Zone. We are also still learning. We are defining some of the borders of the Zone even as we advance it at depth. The high-grade hits here are exciting and we think meaningful clues on richer mineralized areas that are in close proximity."
This exploration campaign not only promises to expand Power Metallic's resource base but also contributes significantly to the understanding of the geological structures within the Nisk project. The ongoing analysis of remaining drill holes will further clarify the extents of this promising mineralization.
Looking Ahead
As the company progresses with their exploration in the Lion Zone and surrounding areas, investors and stakeholders remain attentive to the evolving story of Power Metallic. The potential discoveries could herald the emergence of Canada’s next polymetallic mine, as the company works to define its mineral resource base and advance towards a fully operational mining phase. The ongoing analysis and preparation for upcoming drill results are vital next steps in this ambitious project.
In summary, Power Metallic’s recent drilling results reveal a promising future for the Lion Zone, which is becoming increasingly important in the landscape of high-grade nickel-copper and precious metals in Canada. From initial indications to robust findings, the journey of exploration continues, paving the way for potential economic benefits and environmental stewardship in mining.
