Japan RepRap Festival 2025: A Celebration of 3D Printing Culture

Japan RepRap Festival 2025: Connecting Through 3D Printing

This weekend, on June 14-15, the Japan RepRap Festival 2025 will take place at the Tokyo Ryuutsu Center in Ota Ward, marking Japan's first major event dedicated to 3D printing enthusiasts. This festival, themed "Connecting the World Through 3D Printing," invites everyone to explore the fascinating realm of additive manufacturing.

The term "RepRap" stands for "Replicating Rapid Prototyper"—a term not related to music but instead referring to a movement that allows individuals to build their 3D printers using readily available information and resources. At the festival, attendees will have the rare opportunity to witness a wide range of 3D printers, from self-built models influenced by the RepRap culture to the latest desktop models available on e-commerce platforms like Amazon. The indoor venue ensures you can enjoy the exhibits regardless of the weather, so come and join the excitement!

What to Prepare

One highlight of the festival is the "MakerChip," reminiscent of a casino chip. This innovative token, measuring 40mm in diameter and 3-3.5mm thick, can be customized to showcase your originality. Not only does it serve as a creative expression item, but it also doubles as a practical tool to flaunt your 3D printing skills. You can engrave logos, QR codes, or your unique designs, making it perfect for promotional giveaways, collector items, or even as a modern business card. If you own a 3D printer, we encourage you to create your own MakerChip and bring it along. At the event, a board will be set up for guests to display their chips as a memorable keepsake!

Tickets and Participating Brands

Tickets are available for purchase at Peatix and are priced at 1,500 yen for general admission, while students from junior high to high school can enter for free with a special ticket.

This festival also features several brands that are making their Japan debut, alongside those you might not encounter at other events. Industry representatives from companies like BIQU, EIBOS, HueForge, Snapmaker, Cartographer, and Sirayatech will be present to discuss their latest innovations. Don't miss this unique chance to engage directly with the makers!

Experiencing 3D Scanning

While the focus is on 3D printing, this year will also see the participation of three 3D scanner manufacturers. Bring an item you’d like to scan and experience the fun of 3D scanning firsthand! Depending on the brand, you may even receive the final digital file of your scan after the festival.

Limited Edition Merchandise

In addition to the main attractions, festival organizers will sell limited edition items such as quirky stickers and durable tote bags, perfect for carrying filaments. Please note that these items are available in limited quantities, so make sure to get yours before they sell out!

Future Aspirations

The Japan RepRap Festival aims to expand the 3D printing culture across the country. In the future, we hope to engage more regions and generations, strengthening ties with educational institutions and industry partners to explore the diverse possibilities of craftsmanship. Additionally, we are considering spin-off events and hybrid formats that blend online and offline experiences, striving to continue bridging the gap between users and companies.

For any inquiries related to the festival, please contact the organizing team via email. We kindly ask for advance communication as the team will be very busy during the event.
