Keeper Security Unveils Global Cybersecurity Insights from Top Experts

Keeper Security, renowned for its cutting-edge zero-trust and zero-knowledge Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions, has published an insightful report that captures the dynamic landscape of cybersecurity from the perspective of industry practitioners. The report, titled "Identity, AI and Zero Trust Cybersecurity Perspectives from Infosecurity Europe, Black Hat USA and it-sa," draws from interviews with over 370 cybersecurity professionals gathered during significant global conferences, including Infosecurity Europe in London, Black Hat USA in Las Vegas, and it-sa in Nuremberg. This report provides a comprehensive understanding of how organizations are navigating the complexities of modern cybersecurity threats.

Key Insights: AI, Identity and Zero Trust

One of the standout revelations from the research is the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on cybersecurity operations. Industry professionals from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany acknowledged that while AI is altering the security landscape, many organizations are not adequately prepared for AI-driven cyber threats. Only 12% of respondents in the UK and 16% in the US feel their organizations are fully equipped to handle AI-enhanced attacks. Interestingly, Germany showed slightly more confidence with 28% of respondents feeling prepared, emphasizing a regional variance in readiness.

Zero trust strategies emerged as a consensus among cybersecurity leaders, widely regarded as essential for effective defense mechanisms. However, the implementation rates of zero trust frameworks still lag behind ambitions. At the Infosecurity Europe event, only 18% reported having fully implemented zero trust, with progress improving to 27% at Black Hat USA and 44% at it-sa in Germany. Despite this improvement, the overall adoption of zero trust frameworks continues to reflect inconsistencies across different regions.

The study also highlights identity-based attacks as the primary global concern for cybersecurity. Phishing is cited as the leading threat, with 50% of UK professionals identifying it as their top risk, while 42% pointed to deepfakes as a significant concern. In the United States, 45% named phishing, followed closely by 41% for deepfakes. Notably, German respondents exhibited heightened anxiety, with 61% regarding deepfakes as the most critical identity-based threat, showcasing a worrying trend in identity misappropriation.

Moving from Awareness to Action

An essential takeaway from the report is the gap between cybersecurity awareness and actual implementation. Professionals acknowledge the importance of zero trust, PAM, and AI-powered security principles; however, they also recognize that various factors, including complexity, resource constraints, and competing priorities, often delay deployment.

Darren Guccione, CEO and Co-founder of Keeper Security, emphasized, "Identity has become the control point of cybersecurity. Our data demonstrates that the disparity between cybersecurity awareness and action is wide. However, proactive defense measures can close this gap. Organizations leading in zero trust and PAM are not only securing access but also laying a solid foundation for scalable, secure growth in the age of AI."

The research points out that resilience in today's cybersecurity environment hinges on disciplined execution, measurable advancements, and the responsible integration of AI for anomaly detection and risk management at every access point.
