S&P Dow Jones Indices Unveils 2026 Best-in-Class Indices Results

On April 23, 2026, S&P Dow Jones Indices, recognized as a global leader in index provision, announced significant findings from its annual review of the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC). This rebalancing and reconstitution exercise, taking place each year, is critical for those who track equity markets through a sustainable lens.

The DJ BIC indices are designed to offer investors a perspective on market performance while emphasizing companies that uphold sustainable practices. Introduced in 1999, this index family, which includes the Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index (DJ BIC World), serves as a benchmark for global sustainability, making it a pioneering force in the market.

As part of the results for this year’s review, effective May 1, 2026, three prominent companies have been integrated into the DJ BIC World, while three others have been removed. The following firms have been added:

• - Enbridge Inc.
• - Tokio Marine Holdings Inc.
• - London Stock Exchange Plc.

Conversely, notable deletions include:

• - Microsoft Corp.
• - Siemens AG
• - Union Pacific Corp.

These changes highlight ongoing shifts in the marketplace and reflect the imperatives of sustainability and market capitalization criteria that the indices measure.

In 2025, S&P Dow Jones Indices also undertook a comprehensive rebranding of several indices focused on sustainability, whereby the names of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) were officially changed to Dow Jones Best-in-Class Indices (DJ BIC). This was effective from February 10, allowing for a more current and relevant alignment with evolving global sustainability standards.

An update in the annual schedule for rebalancing will now occur after the conclusion of the last business day in April, instead of the previously held December timeline. This adjustment is intended to align with the SP Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) participation framework, enhancing the integrity of the indices.
