Yutong Bus T15E Successfully Completes Cold Endurance Challenge in Finland
Yutong Bus T15E: Exceptional Performance in Extreme Cold
Yutong Bus, a prominent name in the commercial vehicle manufacturing sector, has demonstrated the robust capabilities of its electric coach, the T15E, in a recent extreme cold endurance challenge held in Finland. This trial comes after previous successful tests of the U12 in Norway and the E18Pro in Kazakhstan, signaling Yutong's commitment to showcasing the adaptability and reliability of its electric vehicles in harsh environments.
The cold endurance challenge was conducted over a stretch of icy roads that tested the T15E's performance in temperatures that dipped as low as -20°C. This thorough assessment involved a series of rigorous tests focused on the vehicle's safety, energy efficiency, driving range, hill-climbing ability, and cornering skills under challenging conditions. Starting from Oulu and navigating towards Rovaniemi, the T15E successfully undertook a grueling 250-kilometer journey through winding, snow-covered landscapes, completing the drive in just 2.5 hours. Throughout this journey, the vehicle proved its prowess in battery efficiency and stability, impressing media representatives who noted its superior handling and luxurious ride, enhanced by advanced suspension seats and elegantly designed ambient lighting.
In an additional test covering a remarkable 609.8 kilometers from Oulu to Helsinki, the T15E concluded its journey with a notable performance. Maintaining the same harsh temperature of -20°C, the electric coach showcased its ability by dropping its state of charge from full to just 2 percent while achieving an impressive energy consumption rate of only 0.94 kWh/km. Victor Wang, a product engineer at Yutong Bus, reflected on this achievement, emphasizing how the T15E has consistently maintained stable performance and an extensive operational range, meeting the needs of long-distance premium coach services even in extreme winter conditions. This particular strength is partly attributed to its cutting-edge technology, including a high-energy-density battery boasting a capacity of 630 kWh. The vehicle’s design incorporates an innovative liquid cooling and heating system that optimizes efficiency in low temperatures, ensuring reliability and performance in all circumstances.
The electric coach is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that operates at a peak efficiency of up to 97.5%. Yutong’s unique braking energy recovery system and low-temperature heat pump air conditioning further enhance energy conservation, allowing for maximum operational reliability. Moreover, equipped with rapid charging capabilities at the megawatt level, the T15E can be fully recharged in just over one hour. This feature, combined with compatibility with mainstream European charging stations, significantly augments convenience for operators managing long-distance services.
Safety is equally prioritized in the T15E, with advanced systems including the Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Program (ESP), and Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) implemented to reinforce its reliability and performance in long-distance transports. In summary, the T15E by Yutong Bus stands out as a leading option in electric transportation, proving its qualifications under rigorous conditions and setting a benchmark for future electric coaches.
With the electric vehicle market expanding rapidly, Yutong is poised to lead the charge, ensuring that its vehicles meet not just the expectations of today’s drivers but also the demands of tomorrow’s transportation needs.
