Memorial Hospitals in South Florida Earn Top Safety Grades Twice in 2025, Highlighting Patient Care Excellence

Memorial Hospitals Achieve Excellence in Safety Ratings

In an impressive display of commitment to patient care, both Memorial Hospital Miramar and Memorial Hospital Pembroke have been awarded an 'A' grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to hospital safety evaluations. This recognition marks the second time these hospitals achieved this honor in 2025, highlighting their relentless efforts to provide superior healthcare services.

Ongoing Commitment to Safety

Memorial Hospital Miramar attained its fifth consecutive 'A' grade, which is a testament to its consistent performance in upholding high standards in patient safety. Over the previous three years, the hospital has placed a significant focus on minimizing medical errors, injuries, and infections, making it part of a distinguished group of hospitals across the nation known for their exceptional safety practices. Stephen Demers, the Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Hospital Miramar, commented, "Earning another 'A' this Fall from The Leapfrog Group reflects the rigorous standards our team upholds to ensure patients receive safe, high-quality care."

Memorial Hospital Pembroke also excelled in this grading period, receiving an 'A' for the second time this year. Felicia Turnley, CEO of Memorial Hospital Pembroke, stated, "This accomplishment is a proud moment for our team and showcases our unwavering commitment to patient safety. Achieving this distinction in one year requires focus, teamwork, and accountability on all levels."

The Leapfrog Group's Evaluation Process

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade program is unique in its approach to evaluating hospital safety. Utilizing over 30 national performance measures, the program assigns a letter grade—ranging from 'A' to 'F'—to general hospitals across the United States. This biannual rating process is notable for its transparency and peer-reviewed methodology, ensuring that hospitals are graded fairly based on their safety reported practices.

The most recent round of evaluations, which took place in the Fall of 2025, follows the previous grading in May of the same year, where both hospitals again secured top marks.

Recognition and Future Goals

Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, commended the hospitals for their accomplishments, stating, "Achieving an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade reflects an enormous dedication to patient safety. We applaud Memorial Hospital Miramar and Memorial Hospital Pembroke for putting patients first and delivering the highest standard of care."

As they move forward, both hospitals remain committed to enhancing their services and ensuring that patient safety and care quality remain at the forefront of their mission.
