In a major development for the research landscape in Japan, Japan Paint Holdings Co., Ltd. has officially announced that its pivotal research and development facility, the "Tokyo Innovation Center," will commence full operations starting July 2025. The center, located at 4-1-15 Minamishinagawa, Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo, is expected to enhance the technical capabilities of the Japan Paint Group significantly.

With five floors encompassing an area of approximately 18,249 square meters, the Tokyo Innovation Center will house over 200 technicians from multiple subsidiaries, including Japan Paint Co., Ltd., Japan Paint Automotive Coatings Co., Ltd., Japan Paint Industrial Coatings Co., Ltd., Japan Paint Surf Chemicals Co., Ltd., Japan Paint Marine Co., Ltd., and Japan Paint Corporate Solutions Co., Ltd. This makes it one of the largest technical research buildings globally within the Japan Paint Group.

The center will include state-of-the-art facilities such as:

Construction of the Tokyo Innovation Center is set to complete in March 2025, with all equipment installation scheduled for completion by July. The total investment amounts to around 7 billion yen, which covers equipment relocation and surrounding infrastructure improvements.
