The recent announcement of The Shyft Group's expanded collaboration with Isuzu North America has sent ripples of excitement through the commercial vehicle manufacturing sector. The partnership aims to create new revenue streams and strengthen their foothold in the North American market by establishing operations close to Isuzu's upcoming production facility in Greenville County, South Carolina. This collaborative endeavor will feature the establishment of a dedicated upfit and modification center, alongside a new body program tailored specifically for the North American market.

The Shyft Group has conscious plans to maintain the assembly of key Isuzu vehicle lines, including the N-Series Gas, N-Series EV, and F-Series trucks at their Michigan campus. This strategic move ensures production continuity during the transition period as the new facility in Greenville ramps up operations each year.

Underlining the importance of their collaboration, both Shyft and Isuzu are working diligently to establish Shyft as a long-term upfit and vehicle solutions provider supporting Isuzu's North American operations. The development of a dedicated upfit and modification center is set to support Port-Installed Options (PIO), final vehicle modifications, and other upfit services tailored for vehicles manufactured at the new plant.

Further, Shyft is gearing up for a fresh body program that aligns with the increasing demand for purpose-built solutions in the commercial vehicle segment. This new initiative is expected to unveil powerful details soon, enhancing production potential and catering specifically to North America’s unique requirements.

The Greenville facility, spanning an impressive 1,000,000 square feet, will consolidate various operations, including production, vehicle preparation, and logistics. With initial production projected to initiate in 2027 and further expansions anticipated for 2028, the facility aims to produce up to 50,000 vehicles annually, generating significant employment opportunities for over 700 individuals.
