Expanding Horizons for Young Women in Tech
On August 18, 2026, Edifist Learning, a subsidiary of Comture Corporation, held an innovative workshop aimed at female middle and high school students from Shonan Shirayuri Gakuen. This initiative is a part of Microsoft Japan's community engagement project "The Future of AI and Manufacturing." A total of 64 students participated, engaging in a hands-on experience with generative AI technology.
In today’s world, the need for more female representation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields is more pressing than ever. While there's an emphasis on enhancing women's roles in tech, the workshop addressed an important gap: the need for young women to have accessible experiences in technology as they ponder their futures in academics or career paths. The primary goal was to spark their interest in various fields by relating them to their personal passions and strengths.
Using Microsoft Copilot, a generative AI service, participants were introduced to the creative process of designing original accessories. They brainstormed ideas through interactive dialogues with the AI, which guided them in conceptualizing their designs. The students then pushed their creativity further by creating 3D models of their accessories. These final designs were planned to be 3D printed, allowing the students to take home their tangible creations, reinforcing the workshop's practical value.
This immersive experience not only familiarized the participants with innovative technology but also allowed them to experience the joy of creation. They learned to see generative AI not merely as a tool for information retrieval, but as a valuable partner in expanding their creative potential. This workshop embodied Edifist Learning's philosophy: learning is not just about accumulating knowledge—it's about broadening one's perspectives, choices, and future possibilities.
Throughout the day, the students actively engaged in discussions, shared ideas, and collaborated, fostering a community of like-minded peers. By encountering various facets of technology, such as generative AI and 3D modeling, participants discovered a new realm of opportunities they might not have considered before.
Edifist Learning is committed to leveraging its extensive expertise in training IT professionals to provide learning opportunities that empower the next generation. The focus is not solely on AI knowledge acquisition, but rather on enabling each student to manifest their interests and ideas into reality. The overarching objective is to inspire them to believe that their passions can lead to future educational and career pathways.
As the students left the workshop, they were encouraged to envision the possibilities ahead—an affirmation that their likes and strengths could indeed shape their academic and career trajectories.
Edifist Learning is dedicated to continuing its role as a strategic partner in enhancing human capital, ensuring diverse learning opportunities that expand both individual and societal possibilities. The organization's vision emphasizes the importance of education in shaping future innovators, leaders, and change-makers.
