Sandvik Expands Digital Manufacturing Capabilities with Verisurf Acquisition in 2025
Sandvik to Acquire Verisurf
In a strategic move aimed at enhancing its portfolio in the industrial metrology sector, Sandvik AB has officially announced the acquisition of Verisurf Software, Inc., based in Anaheim, California. This agreement, confirmed on March 10, 2025, will allow Sandvik to strengthen its digital manufacturing solutions tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Verisurf is a well-regarded provider of 3D metrology software, primarily serving the North American market with a clientele that includes around 1,500 companies, ranging from SMEs to larger corporations. They cater to various industries, including aerospace and defense, offering a suite of modular software solutions that aid in quality inspection, assembly guidance, and reverse engineering tasks. The software developed by Verisurf is built on the widely recognized Mastercam Design platform, known for its ease of use and operational efficiency.
Stefan Widing, President and CEO of Sandvik, expressed optimism about the acquisition, stating, "Verisurf will strengthen our metrology offering and ability to support the growing customer demand for precision measurement and quality assurance in manufacturing. The acquisition fits very well with our strategy to grow in digital manufacturing and provide comprehensive solutions for our customers to drive efficiency and productivity.”
This acquisition comes as part of Sandvik's ongoing commitment to enhance its capabilities in the digital manufacturing landscape. By integrating Verisurf’s advanced metrology solutions, Sandvik aims to provide enriched offerings that address the evolving needs of its customers, particularly in the realms of precision measurement and quality control.
Verisurf, which employs 44 staff members, reported revenues of approximately SEK 130 million (USD 12 million) in 2024. Although the purchase price remains undisclosed, analysts note that the impact on Sandvik’s earnings before interest, taxes, and amortization (EBITA) margin and earnings per share is expected to be minimal. The transaction is projected to close in the second quarter of 2025, contingent upon the customary regulatory approvals.
The acquisition of Verisurf marks a significant step in Sandvik's broader strategy of expanding its digital services and software capabilities. By incorporating Verisurf's technology and market expertise, Sandvik positions itself to better serve a diverse range of manufacturing clients and enhance operational efficiencies across the board.
As industry trends increasingly lean toward advanced manufacturing technologies and the demand for high-quality metrology solutions rises, this acquisition is seen as timely and strategically advantageous for Sandvik. The company is set to maintain its position at the forefront of the digital manufacturing space, ready to tackle future challenges in the evolving landscape of industrial technology.
