New Football Cultural Hub Opens in New York, Celebrating the Game's Global Influence

Home of Football: A New Cultural Destination in NYC

New York has officially opened its doors to football enthusiasts with the launch of the Home of Football, a unique cultural platform dedicated to the world's most loved sport. Strategically situated in the heart of the city's design district, the venue is set to become a central hub for football culture, running from June 22 to July 19, 2026.

Designed by renowned architect Harry Nuriev and Crosby Studios, Home of Football offers an immersive experience blending football with diverse realms such as art, fashion, and film. At its core is the HOME AND AWAY exhibition, curated by the Paris-based collective Air Afrique, showcasing the Manzano Heritage Collection for the first time to the public. This collection includes over 60 historic jerseys, trophies, photographs, and rare artifacts that have been pivotal in football history.

Exhibition Details

The exhibition is divided into six thematic chapters, each illustrating different facets of football's influence on culture and identity. Prominently featured items include:
  • - Pelé's 1958 Brazil World Cup jersey
  • - Diego Maradona's Napoli jersey
  • - Lionel Messi's first World Cup jersey
  • - Artifacts from Ronaldo's 2002 World Cup triumph
  • - A special installation celebrating the New York Cosmos

These artifacts reflect the game's evolution, emphasizing football's role as a global cultural force that transcends sport to shape cities and identities across generations.

Founders' Vision

Co-founders Josh Murphy and Timothy Hagius express their belief that football serves as a powerful cultural force, one that fosters community, ignites creativity, and cultivates a sense of belonging. They state, "Few cultural phenomena have shaped collective identity and connected people across borders and generations in quite the same way. Home of Football aims to enhance our understanding of football and its significant impact on society."

Additional Features

In addition to its exhibitions, Home of Football will also host a pop-up café called Balira Coffee, run by former Real Madrid star and World Cup champion Sami Khedira. Visitors can indulge in a vibrant coffee culture, enjoying the flavors associated with one of football's greatest icons.

The venue also includes a Crosby Studios designed retail space powered by SAP technology, providing fans with a seamless shopping experience for exclusive branded merchandise, never seen in the U.S. before. This innovative store combines real-time inventory with personalized customer engagement, enhancing the overall fan experience.

Furthermore, Capital Pay is a cultural sponsor supporting the platform, while Cybex has generously provided 2,500 free tickets for children, ensuring young fans can engage with the world of football.
