Liberty HealthShare Collaborates to Fight Hunger in Stark County
Liberty HealthShare®, through its charitable initiative, the Sharing Hearts Fund, has embarked on a mission to combat hunger in Stark County, Ohio. On November 21, 2025, the organization proudly announced its collaboration with five local charities dedicated to addressing food insecurity in the region. The initiative kicked off with a special event dubbed the "Day of Sharing," where each of the five organizations—Stark County Hunger Task Force, Refuge of Hope, North Canton Cares Pantry, Salvation Army of Canton, and Salvation Army of Massillon—received a grant of $5,000.
This total contribution of $25,000 is set to provide over 100,000 meals to struggling families within the community. “Liberty HealthShare aims to be a positive force in our community,” stated Dorsey Morrow, the CEO of Liberty HealthShare. Morrow further emphasized the increasing need for support, mentioning that food insecurity has escalated due to various factors, such as inflation and federal funding cuts.
The five partner organizations each play a crucial role in delivering food to those in need. Their services range from grocery distribution to weekend meal backpacks for children and hot dinner meals. “These organizations serve thousands of individuals and families every day who are in desperate need of assistance,” Morrow remarked, further underlining the importance of the collaboration.
In recent times, food insecurity has captured national attention, notably during the federal government shutdown. Many communities, including those in Stark County, face serious challenges posed by rising food prices and diminishing donations. The combined efforts of Liberty HealthShare and these local organizations signify a significant push to address these critical issues.
“We see our work as an extension of our faith values, reflecting the teachings of Jesus Christ, who told us in Matthew 25:35-40 that feeding the hungry is akin to serving Him,” Morrow added. This perspective not only focuses on providing food but also works toward nurturing the well-being of the community.
All funds distributed by the Sharing Hearts Fund are derived from donations, which are managed separately from Liberty HealthShare's operational costs. Members of the public interested in supporting this initiative can contribute through tax-deductible donations made via Liberty HealthShare's website.
