Celebrating Charity: The 19th Invest in Others Awards

On September 25, 2025, the prestigious Invest in Others Awards Gala took place at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, recognizing the outstanding contributions of financial advisors who dedicate their time and resources to charitable causes. Hosted by the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation, this gala aims to celebrate the philanthropic efforts of individuals from the financial services community.

This year marked the 19th installment of the event, where five exceptional financial advisors received accolades for their commitment to making a positive difference in their communities. The awards not only honor these individuals but also provide grants to the charities they support, thereby amplifying their impact.

The Catalyst Award was presented to William Sherlach, a financial advisor with Raymond James in Newtown, CT. Sherlach has been a strong advocate for Sandy Hook Promise, an organization aimed at preventing violence in schools and communities through education and empowerment. His innovative approach and unwavering support have helped bridge gaps in awareness and promote safer environments.

Next, the Community Service Award went to Nadia Shokohi of Shokohi Wealth Management Group | LPL Financial, based in Parker, CO. Shokohi's tireless efforts to assist the Front Range Divorce Center, also known as WINGS, demonstrate her commitment to empowering women through financial education and emotional wellness.

The Emerging Impact Award, which recognizes up-and-coming leaders making waves in philanthropy, was awarded to Justin Elder from Cetera Financial Specialists in Naperville, IL. He supports Moose Me Baking Company, an initiative that employs individuals with disabilities, transforming the lives of many through inclusive job opportunities and skills development.

John Lyons, of J Lyons Fund Management, Inc. | Interactive Brokers in Deerfield, IL, received the Volunteer of the Year Award for his dedication to Hope for the Silent Voices. This organization focuses on providing assistance to neglected and disadvantaged individuals globally. Lyons’ commitment to shining a light on underrepresented communities showcases the powerful role that financial advisors can play in societal change.

Lastly, the Lifetime Achievement Award recognized Scott Stackman of UBS Financial Services in New York, NY. Stackman's longstanding dedication to the Challenged Athletes Foundation reflects his belief in empowering those with physical disabilities to engage in sports and fitness. His contributions not only uplift individual talents but foster a community that champions perseverance and active lifestyles.

In addition to individual awards, each recipient's chosen charity received a generous grant of $60,000, while the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient's charity was awarded a $100,000 grant. Two finalists from each category also received support for their chosen organizations, with grants of $25,000, and numerous honorable mentions were granted $2,000.

A special tribute during the event honored John Hyland, Co-Founder of Private Advisor Group, who received the Executive Tribute for his longstanding commitment to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and his impactful leadership within the community. Driven by a personal connection to blood cancer, Hyland's significant efforts exemplify the spirit of the awards.

The night was not just about accolades; it served as a poignant reminder of the positive impact that financial advisors have through their charitable endeavors. As R. Barkley Payne, President and CEO of Invest in Others, stated, "This year's recipients set the bar very high for balancing dedication to clients and support for nonprofit organizations. Their work profoundly affects lives both locally and across the country."

The 2025 Invest in Others Awards Gala, made possible through the support of sponsors such as Fidelity Investments, Cetera, Osaic, and many others, illustrates how philanthropic spirit can thrive alongside professional success in the financial industry.
