Eco Material Technologies Launches Rail Terminal to Supply Low Carbon Cement Alternatives in NYC Metro

Eco Material Technologies Opens New Rail Terminal in Queens

Eco Material Technologies, a leader in sustainable cement production, recently inaugurated its Blissville Rail Terminal in Long Island City, New York. This state-of-the-art facility is set to transform the construction landscape in the NYC metro area by supplying approximately 50,000 tons of low carbon cement replacement products annually.

A Sustainable Shift in Construction

As urban construction surges, so does the demand for environmentally friendly materials. The new terminal enables Eco Material to distribute sustainably sourced fly ash and other supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), which can replace a significant portion of traditional portland cement in concrete mixes. By utilizing these alternatives, projects can decrease their carbon footprint by over 25%, with certain applications allowing for a complete replacement.

Grant Quasha, CEO of Eco Material Technologies, highlights the strategic importance of this terminal, stating, "The opening of the Blissville Terminal reinforces Eco Material's leadership in sustainable innovation and a major step in our efforts to expand access to low-carbon cement alternatives in all major metro areas."

The terminal operates in partnership with Precision Terminal Logistics, LLC, and takes advantage of New York Atlantic Railway's infrastructure to transport materials efficiently to the bustling construction market of New York.

The Benefits of Rail Transportation

One of the key benefits of this new facility is its emphasis on rail transportation, which helps streamline the delivery process, cut down on truck traffic, and minimize emissions. This logistical strategy not only supports sustainable construction practices but also alleviates traffic congestion and reduces wear on local roadways. As Marlon Taylor, President of New York Atlantic Railway, states, "This approach reduces truck traffic, emissions, and wear and tear on our roadways while streamlining supply chains."

Meeting Regional Demand

Given the increasing demand for fly ash and sustainable cement products, the Blissville Terminal is expected to quickly operate at full capacity, catering to the immediate needs of the surrounding construction industry. This development aligns with Eco Material's broader mission to contribute to the decarbonization of the North American concrete market.

The grand opening event celebrated on April 29, 2025, marks a new chapter for Eco Material in not only expanding its influence in one of the country’s largest construction markets but also for promoting environmentally responsible practices among stakeholders in the industry.
